Where do you get your weather information?

Within the past three months or so, weather.com has added some clickbait articles and it's like they're trying to be the TMZ of weather.

EX - "Winds topped 40mph and you won't believe what happened next! - Click To Read"

I still like their outlooks, radars, and pictures of events but there are other outlets that are good as well (weather underground, accu weather, etc).

Honestly your best bet is your local news guy. The actually interpret the data models and explain it to you. Apps and websites have computers that make the data models work for their app/website. Seems like most of the time my app tells me there is a 40% chance of rain nearly every day.

Yep, local news is the best IMO. National weather forecasting is getting lazier with a 30-50% of precip pretty much every day forecasted two weeks in advance. Weather channel is absolutely a TMZ site now.

Let's say you have a 4pm tee time today, and rain in the area and it's 3pm.

Local weather offers no help in this situation, so where would you go?

Accuweather app on my phone. It now has a feature right on my phone screen where it tells me how many minutes until rain starts and how long it will last. Kind of cool.

NOAA. Every local forecast is based on info they provide. They have the most resources, and have I believe 15 forecast models they run daily and usually "blend" them into what we see for forecasts...but even the local offices are in the same spot as broadcast meteorologists do...no matter what, a certain amount of guesswork is involved.

That being said...NOAA has the most data, therefore I go to them. It's amazing how accurate they are day in day out. They've pretty much nailed the recent rainy weather eastern Iowa has had recently most every day.

If you look at their hazardous weather outlooks, forecast narratives, and radars et al on their site, one can make a pretty accurate guess as to what a particular time of day in a location will most likely be.

I used to go to weather.com, now I use AccuWeather.com
I have Accuweather on my phone and it's always wrong. Just a few days ago it said it was sunny, but it was in the middle of a rain storm. Just this weekend it said it was rainy, but it was sunny.

Weather Underground is generally spot on and their forecasts are generally much more reliable than the local weather.

I watch the Weather Channel for the same reason I watch Fox Network. Cute chics!
