On the list of all-time Hawkeye thrilling plays?

Other nominees.

1. Chuck Long bootleg against MSU in '85
2. Pass to Warren Holloway in the Cap One bowl.
3. CJ Jones kickoff return in the Orange Bowl
4. Houghtlin's FG against Mich in '85
5. Micah Hyde interception in the Insight Bowl
6. Tim Dwight punt return for a TD as time expired in the 1st half against Mich
7. Duncan game winning FG against Mich
8. Murray's game winning kick against PSU

Many others I'm sure.

But, Amani Hooker's pick 6 against OSU has to be in the Top 10 of all-time thrilling plays, right?

There are a lot of worthy contenders but I would try to squeeze Hooker's INT into the Top10 thrillers somehow. It was the impetus to one of OSU worst defeats.

For me though, Tate to Holloway will always be hard to beat for #1.

The crazy part about Amani’s play is that he read it so well that he almost overran it.

Longest pass play in Kinnick Stadium history. And as a TE to catch a 1 yard pass on the 6 and then run 94 yards and not get caught til the goal line... that was awesome.
If anyone questioned his athleticism before that play they should have had no question after. Amazing play.

Wow so many great moments over the years and I’m sure more are missing from the list.

Hooker's interception sure set the table for the OSU upset, no doubt. It may not be Top 10, but it was an amazing harbinger for what would turn out to be a once in a lifetime game.

The Hooker pick probably ranks around #279 in my book, and based off everyone's responses...it's clear that many of ya'll have little recollection of the 80's/90's Hawkeye era.

I certainly appreciate all these "mainstream, Metallica" plays, but for those who are unaware, there are literally hundreds of others more satisfying.

My recollection of the 80's/90's is not as good as yours. Go ahead and list a couple hundred to refresh my memory.

Beathard to Tevaun in the championship game is tops for me. It still gives me sbsolute chills. 7 got 6 and the catch are close seconds.

To me, “thrilling” plays are those that we almost didn’t see coming. Last second FGs against PSU and Michigan were anticipated before the play. Great plays but I didn’t jump out of my seat for them because I was already out of my seat.

DJK punt return against OSU in 2009 was thrilling because it seemed like the game was over. Pinball INT to Sash took me out of my slumped position in my chair.

Yes, please enlighten us. My recollection of the 80's/90's is pretty good. Obviously there are many that deserve note here, but hundreds more thrilling than a pick 6 against a national powerhouse 10 seconds into the game? Skeptical.;)

Which play was then? Honestly I can't think of one.

Jackson's interception was a way better highlight, but this category is "thrilling". Hooker's pick to start the game was so unexpected, the crowd was going nuts.

Polecat would probably rank #1 from that game for me. Arguably the Josh Jackson interception, and even the Fant touchdown a couple minutes before halftime.

Hooker's pick-6 was an amazing way to start the game, but at that point I think the vast majority of fans still thought that OSU would end up rolling in which case the pick-6 would have been inconsequential. The big plays that occurred after the pick-6 showed us all that Iowa was going to dominate all 3 phases of the game.

Most exciting plays I saw live, Dallas Clark 95 yard catch against Purdue and the eventually game winner. Saw both of those from the south endzone, screamed my head of.

Now for what play made me jump up and down the most, it is a tie with "7 got 6" and "Holloway the forgotten man"!

This won't make the top ten, but it's still an underrated play. Kinnick is going about as crazy as you'll ever see. Turn up the volume when you watch this.

I'm also a fan of the Tevon Smith 85 yard TD against MSU. Again, when the crowd completely loses it for a play that doesn't end/win the game outright, it's kinda cool. Again, crank the volume.
