Which was worse for you and why,

Rose Bowl for sure, this game was disappointing but is what we have come to expect under Fran.

Neither holds a candle to having my soul crushed in Indy by MSU though....Honestly a blowout would have been less devastating than having a conference title just slip through the Hawks grasp, even though they played about as well as anyone could have hoped. It sucks that the best football game I have ever watched in person, ended with the Hawks on the wrong side but hey....tip of the cap

Enjoyed them both,.. Looking forward to more Hawkeye football and basketball in the future...

Kind of the same, although the stakes were bigger in Pasadena. I want to see them win a Rose. Winning a game to get to the S16 shouldn't be a big deal

Disagree on the stakes being high in that Rose Bowl. Winning that would've looked nice but it wouldn't have been any more significant than winning the Orange Bowl in January 2010 was. Iowa didn't have a chance at a national title regardless of the outcome. The CFP playoff are the only bowl games that truly matter on the national stage.

Losing that game yesterday ended the season - where otherwise if you win and keep advancing, there is still a chance of winning it all, slim as the odds may be. Even though it was just a second round game, yesterday's loss was far more deflating for me.

I guess i was most upset when we lost to iowa state in 2002. After being up 24 to 7 at the half. That loss cost us a lot. Football game.

In retrospect, yes, for sure. At the time, though, I don't think any of us realized that it was anything more than just another annoying loss to an in-state rival given Iowa was unranked at the time. Late in the year it was one we all definitely wanted back.

Even if Iowa went 12-0 I have doubts that Iowa could have jumped Miami or OSU to get into the BCS title game, but we'll never know for sure I guess. :( I believe Iowa could have beaten either of those teams that year.

The Rose Bowl is significantly a bigger bowl for Big Ten teams than the Orange.

I think if you would take a poll, winning a Rose Bowl would be a much bigger deal than just getting to Sweet 16. Because regardless there was close to zero chance we would make the F4

Regardless of Orange/Rose bowl being bigger, Iowa was still playing for nothing in that game other than the Rose Bowl itself. National title was totally out of the question - literally 0% chance. Winning that game gets Iowa nothing more than what the Orange Bowl did, when it comes down to it.

Comparing football and basketball postseason is kind of an apples to oranges comparison. Totally different format. You can't make a Final Four without winning winning a second round game along the way..

No argument from me that in a vacuum, a Rose Bowl is definitely a higher profile game than any NCAA 2nd Round game, though. I'm just saying that yesterday's loss stung far more than losing that Rose Bowl did. But that's just me.

MSU by a mile.... Stanford had CMAC. he roasted everyone.... Oregon yesterday has at least 4 pros on the roster... That MSU game was one of the more gutless coaching displays Ive ever witnessed.... Iowa got out coached by a team with a noodle armed QB. Hawks gave their passing game to much respect and failed to push the ball downfield except for the big play to TS. and yes.... I said gutless, borderline cowardly.

I can think of 10+ more disappointing moments in my time following the Hawkeyes than the Oregon game. Northwestern St is by far the worst basketball loss I've experienced ('87 was before my "Hawkeye time"), and I think even Tennessee '14 might have been worse than this. Several crushing football losses, including '15 BTCG and a few Rose Bowls. A bunch of unfathomable wrestling losses (Terry Brands '91, McIlravy '95, Metcalf '09 & losing team championship in '94 were the worst). Even some baseball losses bothered me quite a bit.

Heck, I woke up Monday morning expecting to lose that game badly.

Rose Bowl because it had been 25 years, I drove from Colorado and had most of my family there, sat right behind bench so great look at a game that was lost as soon as it started. That's also the game that proved we were a fake ID program like cowherd had been ripping us for in the media. Probably aren't even there if the big ten wasn't down and we didn't have a miracle schedule avoiding all 4 major programs in east....still the easiest schedule we've had in the divisional era. Boy was Colin right, MSU got exposed too. So the 1 very solid season of last decade kind of proved to be a sham because the blowout was so bad....at least they kept it close most of first half vs oregon

I picked Iowa to lose yesterday in the pre tourney poll and as a lifelong fan if there's anything Iowa basketball has prepared me for it's a 2nd round exit. When I read the article preseason about no team making f4 with defensive rating above 50 I knew it wouldn't be a special season....Fran was still the coach. Rose AINEC
