White House is throwing it down messaging wise

Doubling down on stupid now???

Here was the deal: If you use the money for payroll and other business expenses (so all your employees don't file for unemployment), then you can request forgiveness on repayment.

THAT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE PROGRAM ALL ALONG. Keep people on private payrolls instead of on the public dole.

No one changed the rules later.

I don’t understand how you aren’t getting this.

IF YOU BORROWED MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND HAD IT FORGIVEN, YOU CANNOT CLAIM TO BE AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT FORGIVING PEOPLES’ DEBTS.

It doesn’t matter if the intent of the PPP Loans was to have them forgiven - these people CHOSE to WILLINGLY sign up for them. If they were truly against the government forgiving peoples’ debts, they would have borrowed money from a bank instead of taking a handout from the government.

Further, innumerable borrowers were told their student loans would be forgiven under certain conditions, and this isn't happening as promised (mainly Devos' fault).

This is already blowing up in the GOP's faces. Maybe if they got off their asses and pitched in for a change, and do what's right for the country, they wouldn't be getting self owned over and over.
Many democrats are against this. It’s totally ridiculous. How does Biden have the power to do this unilaterally? Scary to think what else he may do.

Polls show a 55% majority support for this very measure no matter what the party. It's not a slam dunk like the vet bill, but it's still pretty decent starting numbers.

People took out PPP loans expecting to pay tax on any amount that was forgiven. But then the rules changed.

People took out student loans expecting to pay them back in full. But then the rules changed.

PPP loan recipients benefited from a rule change and now student loan borrowers are benefiting from a rule change.

Yeah, you had to spend the money on qualifying business expenses while all the businesses were shut down. If you didn't do that, you have to repay the money. That was the deal.
So everyone that spent the money on qualifying business expenses had it forgiven?

Latest poll shows 60% support for the measure. Rs are playing with fire here.

That seems unbelievable. What would be the basis for support? When you take a loan you pay it back. I don’t understand it at all. It seems very foolish.

This is how democratic countries die. When people figure out they can vote themselves money from the treasury.
