Everyone is blaming Iowa, but I think we should be giving Nebraska and Hoiberg some credit. They played about as well as they could, and Iowa did not. Watching little Hoiberg make plays against the Hawks was painful.

The charge call was clearly wrong, but the Hawks had already crawled into the coffin, and that was just the last nail.

The Iowa Defense is ranked dead last in the Big Ten with points given up, seems alot teams have great shooting days.

You think it’s just Iowa fans? Green, Scirotto, szelc, and Pfeiffer are hated by every fan base. The athletic had an article quite a while back about officials. There are a few that the majority of B1G coaches don’t like. Surprisingly, Green is well liked by coaches. Also mentioned how tough it is to get into major college basketball officiating. It’s a good ole boy network.

I bet everyone one of them will be reffing in the ncaa tournament. I don’t agree with all their calls but I also know what it is like to be in their shoes(only I make $100+ not $3,000 a game.

‘Fans hate refs because Fran is a psychopath’ doesn’t track. Naive take on the state of officiating in Big Ten. And Fran is not a psychopath. He is a good guy.

You can’t tell me that his actions don’t fuel the fans. He may be a good guy outside of basketball but he is nuts as a coach and spectator. As an Iowa fan and basketball referee, his act is getting old. Only happens when we are getting beat.

This is pretty good read about how some of the Big East coaches (2021) feel about some of the refs. There are some familiar names mentioned and a few funny comments.

Pat Driscoll and Mike Eades are a few of the ones we don’t see much of anymore and I actually didn’t mind those two.

It'd be worth a complaint from Fran to the ncaa, just on this call alone. I'm not sure if Fran apologized to Kelly, but he should have, whether he means it or not to avoid this issue. A ref calling a game based on personal feeling = a whole world of hurt.

It was less than a month ago when Fran went after the refs in Minneapolis when Iowa was up 14 with 1:50 to go. This was after Perkins was called for tripping a Gopher from three feet away. I was a horrible call and Fran and the assistants (Gatens and Dillard) let them know. The TV cut to commercial (under 4:00 TV timeout) but Fran was at half court before any assistant realized it. Then Fran followed him down to the Iowa basket letting him know it was a shit call. Fran definitely earned a T there, but it never came.

To say Fran ONLY goes off when Iowa is losing, isn’t at all true. He definitely gets more heated with the officials when they are losing, which something you could say for just about every coach in America.

This is the third game in a row Pfeiffer has officiated the Ohio St game. I think that is a bad look for the conference. With the number of officials they have, no one should officiate the same team three days in a row.
