2018

Sr: Williams, Baer, Ellingson, Wagner
Jr: Cook, Pemsl, Kriener, Moss, Dailey
Soph: Nunge, Garza
Frosh: C. McCaffery (if he redshirts like planned) Wieskamp, Fredrick. (Who may walkon, has agreed if needed.

So for 2019:

P McCaffery, and at least two more and Connor and Fredrick still get scholarships that way.

Or if Fran wants to pay the way for one or two of his kids...or transfers, and I can't believe we'll go a second year in a row without one....maybe more openings!

I'm going to bet on the next 2019 not being on the OP's list. (I'm just playing the odds knowing we've got plenty of offers out.)

Wait, so we don't need anyone to leave for Fredrick to get a scholarship? U get 13, right?

Oh I thought we needed someone to leave for Fredrick to get one. Haha, that's why I started the other thread.

When you think about it. For a guy who had full blown offers from Nebraska and Penn State, among others, to accept the chance that he has to walkon for one year to pick Iowa!?!? That's a compliment to the program.

Frederick's Dad (Uncle maybe?) and Fran are longtime friends from the Notre Dame days. And accord to the young Fredrick all he ever heard growing up is what a great guy Fran is! Nice....imagine that kid talking to future recruits! :)

Walkon. Presumably he get's Uhl's scholarship in 2018.
Ok that's what I thought. Thanks Dan, ur the best.

Now back to the poll question... I'm really bad at predicting who's going to commit, even when an Iowa football commit tweets that someone else is committing I usually predict the wrong guy so take this with a grain of salt. I'm going to say Carton, mostly because that's who I want most and because I don't think we will get any of them if I'm being honest. Prove me wrong Fran

JBo will be a JR next season, it would not surprise me to see at least one player transfer out and Fredrick will get that scholarship. as for Connor he may stay a walk on, this spring he has a very good chance of becoming a starter at 1st Base with Adams getting drafted and is now playing in the Minor leagues,

Connor was rated a 9.5 by Perfect Game and to those not familiar a 9.5 = top 10 round Draft pick put it in terms of money the 1st 10 round money is at least a $250,000 signing bonus. they higher the round the higher signing bonus and the higher the contract and where you start.

What are the chances he starts at 1st base, the baseball teams does better this year than last and then he never plays basketball?

looking at he has a very good chance. even Heller is recruiting at a high level there are some predicting that the 2018 team could start out in the BB Top 25. the 2015 team had the #1 rated class in the BT, the 2016 class was rated #2 in the BT. the 17 class had 7 Perfect Games top 500 commit. even A 10.0 Pitcher in Probst out of Iowa who was a 3rd round draft pick, who last I read was still trying to decide between college ball and pro ball.

The excitement around recruiting and the start of the upcoming season is tremendous....love it. It's like the old days of Lute and Dr. Tom when the possibilities for success were dreams of major proportions.

I would even say that when Alford took that first team to Madison Square Garden and beat defending national champion UConn you couldn't help but look to the future with great excitement.

pg top 2 #70 4* Carton # 73 4* Mario McKinney out of Missouri

PF top 3 in my opinion
# 16 5* Robison-Earle
# 48 4* Jackson-Davis
# 96 4* Liddell

after those 2 position will wait to see if Fran has 3 or 4 scholarships to hand out

I think Matt Hoeg will probably start at 1B this year. Connor also plays OF, but OF should be set with Whelan, Norman and Neustrom.
Heller's team is loaded and it showed as Iowa brought home the Silver Medal something that the USA Teams representive have done.

You forgot stars and 40 times. Oh, and you didnt insult other posters......

What about this possibility -- Connor never plays Basketball at Iowa. He enjoys baseballl, performs well and projects well.

It explains the offer to Fredrick.

Just a thought.

Well, since you brought it up. It is possible Connor sticks with baseball but Fredrick has nothing to do with it. The plan is still that Connor redshirts one year, plays baseball, and plays basketball starting in 2018.

Could that plan change? Yes, but Fredrick wasn't brought in as a just in case.

imo.

IMO the chances of Connor not playing basketball with his brother is ....zero.

Our next 2019 recruit will almost certainly be whomever Patrick can convince to come along with him. After he committed, he said he would really try to convince his "friends" on the AAU circuit to join him. IIRC, Carton was on the short list, but there several other names. I will have to try and find that thread, but I think Robinson-Earle was another name.

I found that thread. It was an article written by Matthew Bain. Here is the paragraph I was referencing above:

McCaffery's current 2019 targets to bring with him to Iowa: Four-star point guard D.J. Carton of Bettendorf, four-star power forward Trace Jackson-Davis of Greenwood, Indiana, and Minneapolis point guard Tyrell Terry. McCaffery is Iowa's first 2019 recruit; the program has two open slots left.
