These conference tournaments are for the fans and the conference accountants. If you are in after an arduous 30 game schedule than this tournament is pointless.

Sure there is the argument that some Cinderella will run the table and go to the ball but that is pretty much a fairy tale. Rarely happens. And in fact without this tournament Indiana might be going to the Dance. Instead they played their way out of it (I think OSU was going regardless).

Do you think Maryland cares that it is now home? Or how about Matt Painter? He couldn't be happier to get his star guard home to rehab his ailing back for the tournament that counts. And now a kid on Minnesota's team might be going through concussion protocol and may or may not be available for the 1st round next week.
What if Xavier Simpson turns an ankle in today's meaningless game?

This is nothing but a money grab for the conference and Bobby Knight always knew it and always said it.

We suck. Just admit it.

I care and give a rats ass. Every time an Iowa team suits up and takes on an opponent where a scoreboard records who won and lost I care. And I have for 60 years.
I want Iowa to win every time they play.
Most athletes are blessed with physical attributes most of the regular population don't possess. Then some earn a full ride scholarship to play a game they love and get a degree.
I feel bad when they let opportunity piss down their legs.

Teams like Iowa State and Michigan are conference tournament heroes.

Aounds like an argument a losing team would make. There might be some validity, but I don’t see why a team wouldn’t want to win every game.

Ok there you go. Msu player goes down in a pointless tournament game.

Hope not but may be gone for the season.

I agree with you ro a certain extent. More revenue and the fans do seem to love it based on the attendance.

As for Indiana, after 30 games, that one extra loss isnt going to be what pushed them out of the NCAA tourney. That stretch of losing something like 11 of 12 games is why they wont get it.

Granted I dont want to see a college kid getting hurt, but I dont care about Izzo's team in the NCAA tourney.

I guess I can understand why an Iowa fan wouldn’t be a big fan of conference tournaments - Iowa has quite possibly been the worst conference tourney team in the country the past 12+ years.

If we end up playing Duke, the NCAA tournament record for largest margin of defeat may be in play.
