Who is the most evil person/criminal you have ever met?

Okay, for the benefit of SOME of you on this board, I'll say I met Donald Trump. It was during the 2016 campaign and I was asked to prepare food for a meet-and-greet. There were about 150 people expected, includinding Secret Service, local PD and Sheriff Department. Honestly, he came across as a rational, practically norman person.
He had a few of my hors d'oeuvres and bilked the crowd for donations. My servers and I got a quick picture with The Donald, a quick handshake, and he was off to his next stop.

I was originally supposed to be on jury for Adam Moss.
I worked at a locked facility for juveniles in Sioux City. Adam was there for a year. I was shocked when Adam's name came out for those murders. Also had a kid at Grehill that shot his brother in that back of the head so he could see brains. Gabriel was 12 when he did this to his 10 year old brother. He also almost beat a female worker at Grehill to death.

I once knew, and considered a friend, a former store manager of mine in the restaurant business who eventually - maybe 18 or so years after I left - killed his estranged wife and her mother (and then himself), leaving behind two young daughters. It actually made the local news here and if I mentioned the name, the accounts of it are readily available online still.

The ex-wife was one of the best women I've ever met in my entire life and was a great friend. She worked for me (I was the bar manager at the time) and was a great gal to be around. Smart, "quirky" beautiful, wouldn't hurt a fly. My picture album from the late 80's to mid 90's has a couple dozen pictures that have her in them. Great parties, great times. She was, simply put, "one of the guys".

The guy was...well, the best way to describe him is all of us knew he was kind of "off". That there was something about him that we all kinda knew that some day his temper was going to go off in a bad way. It wasn't that he was unlikeable - back then he actually was mostly a great guy. He just had a temper that we rarely saw, but when we did see it...yeesh. Mushroom cloud layin' mo fo.

All of us that worked there - we at the time and to this day still cannot for the life of us figure out how those two wound up together. To us, it just seemed like a "bad match". They got married and for about a decade everything seemed peachy - until they left the business. He never quite succeeded outside that business, where she prospered massively. They eventually separated in the early 2010's, then things really went downhill for him.

We all got together a year before it all went down, sort of a reunion outing at a bar one night during the holidays. Maybe 25 or so of us. Many of us came away thinking oh shit...something is wrong there, he doesn't seem to be all there any more. It wasn't that he acted "evil" so to speak, but it was obvious that he had issues.

Woke up one morning a year later, had the 5am news on before work, not really paying attention. Then I heard their names...

One of the saddest days of my life. But I will add...none of us were really surprised either.

I took care of Donald Piper a lot when I lived in Des Moines

If you teach long enough, odds are you will have a kid in your class capable of murder. Two come to mind.

8th grader told me once, "I can hold it together here at school, but on the street I'm a different person". Normally when a kid says that, he is blowing smoke and full of shit. The way he said it, and how he said it sent chills up my spine. He ended up nearly beating a cop to death. I think he is still in jail.

Other than him, I can think of two other kids I have taught in jail for murder.

John Wayne Gacy was not the proprietor of KFC. His father in law was the proprieter. Additionally JWG last worked at KFC in Black Hawk 54 years ago. He managed 3 KFCs in the area and spent most of his time at the Cedar Falls location.
I'm confused. How does this line up with @abby97 comments?

My Grandma and Step Grandfather were murdered in Cedar Rapids in the early 90s.
The guy who did it was a friend of the family and gave me a whale/shark species type poster I thought was pretty cool until he took my Grandma.
I knew him when I was very young but don’t remember him, except for what he did.

I have met Ron Gruber a few times. All after his turnaround. His life story is absolutely insane! Dude is one of the most intense individuals I have ever meet. Still has the crazy eyes.

Everything you say is true. I may have used the term proprietor incorrectly but you know what I meant. He occasionally worked at the Waterloo location next to my home but I have no idea where he spent most of his time. I'm not lying if that is what you were intimating.

I have 1 super black sheep cousin who is currently out on bail for possession and has fled Iowa and is not coming back unless the law makes him. I think I last talked to him in like 2014 and he fled in 2017ish. Anyway, this possession charge is not the evil. He was a POS in every way growing up. He calmed down as an adult to stop assaulting other east siders and to just drink and drive while barred every year.

I've told this story, but I knew Michelle Kehoe. Our kids went to school together. Sat with her during football games, saw her around, etc.
At one point, she had an 'accident' and drove her car into the Iowa River with her and her two small children. A passerby jumped into the River and saved them.

But, then, maybe a year later, she drove her kids to a secluded location and killed her two year old with a knife. Then, she tried to kill her 7 year old with a knife, cutting his neck. He escaped and locked himself in their van while she tried to get at him. When she couldn't she cut her own throat. Both her older boy and her survived overnight and were found.
She tried to say that they were attacked. But, her lie was quickly exposed.
Never saw it coming. Still haunts me a bit to this day.

The guy that murdered his ex-gf in the Marion Hy-Vee parking lot in front of their child a few years ago. Nick Luerkens I think? He was in my younger brother's class in high school, so it was one of those deals where he knew who I was, but I really had no idea who he was. He used to sit next to me at happy hour at Mulligans in Cedar Rapids. I would describe him as an empty soul. I am a lot bigger than him, but for some reason I didn't feel safe when he would pull up a seat next to me.

Yeah that was a tough story to hear when it happened. I lived in the same neighborhood at the time, had no idea until after the fact. I do recall seeing her and her kids at the park now and then and playing outside their house now and then. They had a strange mound in front of the house that stood out.

I interviewed James Klindt once after he got out of prison. He actually opened a taco stand in davenport. He made pretty good tacos, for a white, murdering chiropractor.

Never heard that story. Catching a torso in the river is an incredible long shot. I can’t imagine how many bodies have been dumped in there.

At my first real job out of college I worked in a small office, just six of us, and a salesman that came in and out. Pretty tight knit, and we got along fairly well. One guy who did a lot of my training was super anal about everything. Not a bad trait for the work we did, but it was quite noticeable how every pen had to be precisely stored on his desk. Only certain colors for certain tasks. He followed every procedure religiously. He was also super tightly wound up. Occasionally I'd have to get ahold of him at night when an emergency came up, and on the weekends even at 2 or 3 in the morning I couldn't get through on the phone, I'd have to wait on a page. This was back in the old days of using the land line for the internet, and I thought it was weird he'd be on the internet at that hour. If I asked about the long wait on a page being returned he'd say he was working on a project. He was what you'd call and odd duck socially. No dating, he only had pictures of a niece on his desk, who he doted on and would talk about how he bought her gifts.
One day when I was out of the office he had a blow up with someone, it wasn't in our office, it stemmed from corporate, but he wound up storming out of the office and quitting. A few months later Mrs. Lucas and I made the trip back north for a vacation. We got back on a Sunday afternoon and there was a message on our home answering machine from a co-worker telling us we had to watch the news that night, and there was our former co-worker being led out of the courthouse in shackles. He was super classy and and was holding up a manilla envelope with only his middle finger showing towards the cameras. He'd been arrested for molesting his niece. All those nights I had been unable to get ahold of him he'd been downloading and sharing stuff on line with a group of 10-12 other pedophiles. He'd filmed part of his assaults on his niece and transmitted it across state lines, so the feds and locals both took a crack at him, but the feds allowed him to be sentenced by the state, and sent to a prison about 100 miles downstate for a sentence of 50 years.
I looked him up once in awhile, and only after seeing this thread did I discover he'd been let out about 35 years early. I did some digging, and my legalese isn't so good, I can only tell that there was an appeal on some of the charges that he'd won. His sister had some testimony thrown out. It looks like he'd been arrested again, but I couldn't see the charges. I was leery of opening the link to the webpage.
One night several of us had gone to a strip club, and he made a comment to us about how the ladies were a little old for him. Now, it was a dump, and the talent was not very good, but I immediately joked with him about being a pedo or something? We all had a laugh as he backtracked and said, "No, no"! Turns out he was probably seeing which one of us might be into file sharing or something.

Nobody violent, but I had two different bosses and one landlord that I knew were pure scum the second I met them. Not violent, but liars, cheats, and just bad people. I was proven correct several times over by all three.

I actually know this guy that ended up kidnapping a woman and trapped her behind a bridge over lava in his large castle. My buddy this small italian guy with an amazing mustache and red coveralls had to go into the castle and save her. He claims he ate a lot of shrooms and flowers in there. He defeated the guy with turtle shells but the guy was able to get away with the girl but he managed to save a talking mushroom. As far as I know Mario is still out there trying to save that girl. Pretty crazy local law enforcement doesn't get involved and have decided to leave it all up to a plumber.

I worked with the guy that likely murdered the owner of George's Buffet in Iowa City. Cops knew it but lacked the evidence. One of my old foremen killed his wife then himself in the early 70's. An excavation contractor I often worked with ran over and killed a bicyclist while drunk on his 8th OWI.
The fact you fraternize the same jobs and locations as so many losers isn’t a surprise in the least. 😆
