I've been stewing about this, and questionably, I'm asking HBOT for an opinion on this dispute.

Yesterday at about 2:30 p.m., Mrs. Tradition (no pics) says, "I have a hankering for BBQ. Let's go to Sonny's."

What????

I had three rapid-fire thoughts about this:

  1. Sonny's BBQ sucks.

  2. The skies to the north were blacker than a witch's tit, and it was getting ready to storm like hell (we got thunder and lightning, 2" of rain, and gale-force winds).

  3. The Dolphins are playing the late afternoon game.
So, as we debated the pros and cons of going out on a lark to Sonny's BBQ, I had to point out that, "I make better BBQ than any freaking franchise crap."

She replied, "I don't have to give Sonny's three days notice before I get to eat it."

Fair enough.

So in the end, she went out in the shitstorm and got the big-ass family bundle ($70+) to-go and we watched the Dolphins while we ate weak-ass, fast-food BBQ.

Who was wrong here?

No one was wrong. You did what she wanted.

Since these are not the Dolphins of Csonka, Kiick, Morris, Warfield, Little, Langer, Den Herder, Scott, Buoniconti, Griese, Morrall, Fernandez, Stanfill, Anderson, Yupremian, Twilley, Stephenson, Marino, Duper, Clayton, or any Killer B’s you should have gone to get BBQ and recorded the game.

Sonny’s is bad. That’s all.
First time I ever went was with colleagues at work, and I didn't like it all (dried out).

Been two or three times since (same location by Sam's) with work crowd again, and it was good.
Not Hamaknockers good, but good.

Where to start?

BBQ is the most boring of food groups.

You’re an asshole.

Sonny’s is as good as Trad’s, which is as good as any other mediocre BBQ in mediocre middle Florida.

You’re welcome.

If you ate a single bite, she was right.

I get that if you're hungry, you don't want to have to wait half a day to eat. It might not be as good as yours/ homemade, but it's good, and it's available.

No one was wrong, she was just hungry.
And he was an asshole for making her get the food.

Technically, you’re wrong OP.

Mrs. Trad asked for BBC from her friend Sonny, not BBQ.

Sonny Tillman has long since sold the franchise (he's still alive at 95), but the head pitmaster is a former UF football player. I went to school with Sonny's niece. /csb

No, our sons are also here for the holidays.

I was planning to make french dip sandwiches with the leftover prime rib when she sprung this on me.
Flavored with a cloud of ciggie smoke that you think is normal and don’t even notice of course.
🤧🤢

I went to the original Sonny’s across from the Gainesville Airport (when I was still a student) after a fraternity summer rush party at uf.
The sweet tea was the best thing on the menu. Of course when you’re hung over that would be a great cure.
