Don’t know, but we have some options, Sullivan, Gronowski, Brown and Stratton. Along with the young Sullivan. Our QB room is looking much better.

So you think Sully, who has put in some quality QB time for us and will have his first spring practice with Lester, where he will be the clear #1, and whose only real competition for next fall is a guy who has never taken a snap for the team or any FBS team, is going under the knife here pretty soon and will only have some summer workouts and August practice to prove he's clearly superior, needs to consider that he might have a better opportunity starting over somewhere else?

Well we sacrificed the development of Sullivan and kept Cade as the starter until he was finally so hobbled he couldn’t play. You guys who act like this is no big deal that we’ve brought in a QB that we’ve paid at least 500K for and won’t practice until June are crazy. I like Sullivan, more as a 2 than our full time guy, but Gronowski better be 100% healthy and team to go come the end of August.

Nothing makes logical sense when it comes to Iowa QBs these past few years, so will go out on a limb and predict it will be Hank Brown!🤪

I would absolutely go with Sully. And any objective evaluation of the QBs would have to agree. How could Gronowski legitimately beat out Sullivan when the G man won't even be able to throw until June? Meanwhile, Sully would have been there all spring working on the passing game. Giving the job to another injured QB is probably what KF will do, but if he does, it will be further proof that he's WAY beyond his expiration date.

With that said, I'm now a bit concerned that Kirk is compelled to start a less than 100% Gronowski because he spent the Swarm's money to acquire him and we end up in the same situation whereby the most capable QB is holding a clipboard while the starter uses half the season to "round into game shape".

Hard to argue with any of this. I would hope that if it does go down like this, MG “rounds into game shape” a lot faster than CM, considering that he hasn’t missed a game the past 3 seasons (as opposed to CM hardly playing for the previous 2 seasons). Just gotta hope that the surgery is successful and he has a speedy recovery.
