Who ya got for outstanding wrestler?

It's Direnger or Retherford. If "most dominant" is used as it is supposed to it will be Retherford, if he gets by Sorenson. 4 falls this weekend.

Dieringer is simply amazing. His win over Lewis was stunning - he dominated a big time opponent. Hands down the best wrestler out there.

Here are the finalists and their point tournament point totals. My only reservation on Zain is that 149 is one of the weaker weight classes - [Zain's 4 opponents had a combined total of 37 loses in an average weight class]. But I'm eye-balling them subjectively and I'll still go with AD [just my opinion]:

Thomas Gilman (Iowa) 21.5 v. Nico Megaludis (Penn State) 17
Nahshon Garrett (Cornell) 20 v. Cory Clark (Iowa) 17
Dean Heil (Oklahoma State)16 v. Bryce Meredith (Wyoming) 17
Zain Retherford (Penn State) 23.5 v. Brandon Sorensen (Iowa) 17
Jason Nolf (Penn State) 22 v. Isaiah Martinez (Illinois) 18.5
Alex Dieringer (Oklahoma State) 21 v. Isaac Jordan (Wisconsin) 18
Bo Nickal (Penn State) 18 v. Myles Martin (Ohio State) 17
Gabriel Dean (Cornell) 18 v. Timothy Dudley (Nebraska) 18
Morgan McIntosh (Penn State) 20 v. Jden Cox (Missouri) 21
Nick Gwiazdowski (North Carolina State) 19.5 v. Kyle Snyder (Ohio State) 20.5

Gilman...homer pick and put on a great tourney
Zain...machine on a mission
Dieringer... 3xer..great wrestler
HWT winner...

I think it almost has to be the HW winner. I think we can safely eliminate 197 184 174 141 133 I don't think 165 (Dieringer) has not had much top notch competition. So I feel if he wins (and he will beat Jordan) it will be an accumulation, because of past years accomplishments if he were to win OW. 157 has two great wrestlers but not enough to trump the heavyweights. 149 has Retherford and Sorensen so I think Retherfords body of work lacks OW recognition. I think 125 was a meat grinder In my mind If Gilman wins and I believe he will, would deserve runner up OW. He beat an undefeated NC and another multiple time finalist (if he wins). JMHO I may be a little biased with the G man but trying not to be.

Nolf and Snyder have scored the most match points for wrestlers in the front side. Nolf has 68 points and Snyder has61 match points. I would go w Snyder because the amount of points for a heavyweight has to be a record in that weight class. ( not verified ) Just have to see if how they finish tonight.

Hodge winner will be Ringer. Maybe a tie with Gwitz if he wins but I think Snyder will win he is a bull.
OW. Gillman if he wins which he will just to piss off Penn State other wise it would be Zain

You got to wait til after the finals, right now about 5 guys in contention. I'll take a stab and say Nahson Garrett.

If the following win:

Gilman: Beat Pinned undefeated returning Champ, beat a four time AA, bonused his way through to the finals
Garrett: Dominate, pinned defending champ in less time than it takes for me to pick a good nugget out of my nose.
Zain: Is dominate but is his competition that good?
Nolf or IMAR: The most entertaining weight and toughest final IMO. Yea, HWY may get the hype but I like both
165: DRinger
HWY: If Snyder wins, he's beating guys that have 40-60 pounds on him. Gwiz, beats a world champ.

Snyder weighs about 230. Gilman gets my vote due to the talent in his weight class. Zain had the easiest path of all.

I am SHOCKED, yes SHOCKED, that Iowa fans are picking Gilman as the most dominant wrestler!!

+If Gilman beats Mega he definitely would deserve OW.... Mega is a 3 time finalist and after what Gilman did to Tomasello ETC
+ If Nolf Pins Martinez again he would deserve it
+ Zain would have to pin or destroy Sorenson to be considered because I agree with you his competition is not on par with the others but pure numbers standpoint how do you not consider him if he wins
+ Agreed after what Garrett did to Brewer if he destroys his opponent definitely deserves consideration
+Dringer was a pre tourney favorite for all the awards
+ if McIntosh beats Cox he would have beaten a former National Champion and be an undefeated senior...that is something to consider
+as many of you said the heavy situation is special and either of them deserve a look

Wow, This may be the toughest year in recent memory to choose...glad I don't have to

Zain needs an archenemy to vanquish. Even if he majored Sorensen, I still wouldn't vote for him. 149 just isn't that deep compared to the other weights. I'm guessing they will give it to the HWY winner.

It will probably be a Penn State wrestler but if snyder beats gwiz probably him

I agree with you but if he did Pin Sorensen it would be tough to ignore Tfall, Fall, Fall, Fall, Fall, No matter what the competition...You can't do much better, almost perfect. (Edit:Not that I actually think he will pin Sorensen..I Don't)

When was the last time someone pinned their way through the finals and was perfect? Anyone know?

Direnger is a bull! Nolf and Retherford have a shot. Who knows?
Obviously either one of those three but the biggest surprise in the tournament has been Meredith from Wyoming. If Gilman wins tonight I might put him there with Direnger, Nolf or Retherford. He pins Tomasello and Garrett is next in line. Go Hawks!!!
