NW? Lolol... Why in the hell would he go to NW?
just a 6% chance

I would agree you have to try, but it’s an all or nothing approach. If Iowa can’t get a good, proven portal QB this go around who is obviously better than what is currently on the roster, they might as well pack it in. Settling on a borderline guy to be QB1 probably does more harm than good. Who really wants to relive the McNamara experience again? But that's what has to happen. Do you not go out a try and get the best QB you can because you're afraid of what the QB's you have in house will feel? That's a total loser mentality and holds you back from improvement. The passing game was atrocious this year.
Don’t believe so. He has connection to Miss state as their HC was the Oc who recruited him out of HS… IIRCany Iowa connection?
Does coming up behind the old lady when she has dropped silverwear and taking a snap make portal material? I can even long count if I think about other thingsI'm available and I come cheap. You should see my sick handoffs.

I have seen a lot of Weigman, have kids at TAMU. Was fearless when he emerged as a freshman, out playing Haynes King, Jake Calzada and Brad Johnson’s son. Pure pocket passer, with decent running ability.
Has never really looked comfortable this year, and was working thru an injury and a new offense (Collin Klein) which has not seemed to be a great fit. Seems like a good kid and teammate.
He did have better weapons including Evan Stewart (#1 WR recruit who transferred to Oregon), Anias Smith, Devon Achane, etc.
Would immediately be an upgrade, though different skill set than Sully.
Not exactly. They ended up with Deacon because Iowa had perhaps the worst offensive minds in all of college football trying to build a QB room. First Brian, Bud the Gift, and Kirk, in desperation mode to save Brian's job go all in on a broken QB in Cade. It had to be obvious to everyone with clear eyes and half a brain by spring of last year that Cade wasn't going to be what they'd hoped for and the answer that Brian, The Gift, and Kirk came up with to shore things up was to bring in Deacon. That was the last straw for Charlie Jones who would go on to be an All American. Iowa fans, instead of recognizing the absolute shit show that Kirk created on offense, shit all over Charlie Jones for abandoning a sinking ship. Can't make this shit up.I also gotta wonder if the idea of someone being a "camp body" becomes dead in the water. Is that how they ended up with Deacon? Bring in someone thinking they'll never be needed beyond practice squad, and then boom a few injuries or some weed gets smoked and now you've got a D3 athlete starting in the B1G?
Are you mixing up Petras in here somewhere? The QB woes are so out of hand we can't keep them straight? Lol. Deacon joined the team in 2023. Charlie Jones was at Purdue in 2022 and a Bengal last year. Not exactly. You're right. Charlie left with Petras still behind center. And yes, it is difficult to keep the shit show that has been Iowa's offense and particularly the QB situation straight. For me anyways 🤪.Are you mixing up Petras in here somewhere? The QB woes are so out of hand we can't keep them straight? Lol. Deacon joined the team in 2023. Maybe we are all just jaded at this point, but this sounds an awful lot like some guy that's on his way out.Has never really looked comfortable this year, and was working thru an injury and a new offense (Collin Klein) which has not seemed to be a great fit. Seems like a good kid and teammate.

He looked like Petras the 2 games i saw this Year, couldnt escape pressure , was not accurate and looked like a Guy who had never started a game in His life . He was horrendous against ND and LSUMaybe we are all just jaded at this point, but this sounds an awful lot like some guy that's on his way out.

I can only assume that, given their previous relationship, it was his idea in the first place. He recruited both Deacon and Cade. This was divine intervention and all part of God's plan to destroy Iowa's offense once and for all. The beauty of it is that Kirk made sure that he's the gift that keeps on giving by making him receivers coach.would the staff had brought Deacon on without Budmayr's total backing?
Agreed. Kids will not wait 2 years to start if the team also brings in a stud recruit the following year… add portaling…Flood gates are going to open up on Monday. I would be willing to bet, one of Devin Howard, Sulian Sayin, Air Noland, will be hitting the portal as well. You always run the risk of a Malachi Nelson type of situation, but so be it.

As is the case with most relationships. It's personal.yeah, i don't understand KF's love of Jon Budmayr

A QB with one year to play and wanting a shot at the title? Nothing about that screams Iowa.why not?
I don't know. What I meant was that Kirk is obviously very fond of him. You don't call someone "a gift from above" unless you really like someone and you certainly won't ever consider firing them unless he engages in some aggregious conduct. Bud has a job for as long as Kirk is coach at Iowa.did they have a previous coaching relationship?
Word is he really is a talented suck-up so of course Ferentz loves himyeah, i don't understand KF's love of Jon Budmayr

And IA could use more QB competition, but why bother with a one-year guy? Sully only has one year left as is.

Maybe he is a good coach? The receivers were improved this year over last year.I think KF thought that Jon was gonna help Brian make the offense work, and that was obviously a failure
its interesting because it's hard to see what value he's brought to the program. Hell, they fired Copeland and then slid Bud there.
Probably found our KF is on the Diddy list and is holding him hostage.Word is he really is a talented suck-up so of course Ferentz loves him
No idea why Copeland was fired. The wide receivers were bad, but not any worse than the QB's or the oline. Maybe to provide a spot for Bud? I can’t imagine that being the WR coach at Iowa had been much fun. You can only lie to recruits for so long.I think KF thought that Jon was gonna help Brian make the offense work, and that was obviously a failure

Very sane response. People focus on bringing Deacon Hill in and not on how he functions in his role on the staff. The WRs including Kaleb Brown I think had positive things to say about Budameyer coming out of spring practice last year.Maybe he is a good coach? The receivers were improved this year over last year.
I’ve never seen the guy at practice. The receivers claim to like him.
Iowa just won a game with less than 5 first downs.Lester is demonstrating his intended change. The right candidate for his intended system, with some dough, would yield some possibilities.
Maybe we are all just jaded at this point, but this sounds an awful lot like some guy that's on his way out.
Anybody who's game you'd compare his to?I have seen a lot of Weigman, have kids at TAMU. Was fearless when he emerged as a freshman, out playing Haynes King, Jake Calzada and Brad Johnson’s son. Pure pocket passer, with decent running ability.
