People on here keep whining about KF losing close games, but then they go and whine about fran getting blown out

Hell at least Franny will let you know immediately that you need to find something else to do/watch :D

Thanks for saving a couple hours of my time Fran!

Ferentz teams play solid and stellar defense
Fran's teams have no clue how to play defense.

Ferentz teams send players to the NFL
Fran's teams do not send players to the NBA

Ferentz teams go regularly to post season Bowl Game
Fran's teams do not make the NCAA Tourney very often.

And because one of the players on our bench ended up on the team, because his sister asked the coach if their brother could play on the team, and then that brother asked the coach if his little brother could play too. Let that one sink in.

And ALSO because the coach figured if some girl's brothers' could play on the team, then maybe his sons could play on the team too. Let THAT one sink in too.

Why is playing defense better than offense?

a simple bowl game is roughly the equivalent of making the CBI, which Fran does better than almost every year. If there are 354 teams and 32 or so auto bids, so making the tournament as an at-large means you are in roughly the top 10% of all D1 teams

And THEN the coach decided, well HELL, let's add a couple of twin brothers to the team and give THEIR minutes to Riley Till. Because even if that hasn't happened yet, it's going to happen and everyone in here knows it.

Lots of very flawed logic here. The 354 teams include about 250 or so that in no way, shape or form resemble Iowa, and only in the most extreme circumstances put themselves in place for even the potential to be considered for an at-large bid.

Fran is a good coach and needs to be extended

Indeed. The causal fan doesn’t understand that coaches need time to get their players in place and their systems and cultures established. As much as fans might like it to, these things don’t happen overnight.

You fire a coach after only ten seasons? A coach that consistently has his program in the top 10% of all D1 teams? Good luck finding a decent coach who is willing to risk taking a job at an insanely fickle program like that.

Further, the man has not just one but TWO sons on full scholarship. Ending that would not only destroy their dreams, it could bankrupt the family. Would be terrible optics for the university.

Fans are selfish and myopic. Quite frankly, most sicken me. That’s one of the reasons the extension should take place secretly. The less those idiots know, the better.

This would be brilliant satire if intended as such. Swiftian level stuff.

Don’t get me wrong... it’s still really funny but for quite different reasons.

One measure of a good coach is, if he left voluntarily to seek a new coaching gig, what other program from the upper tier would hire him? I have an extremely hard time believing Fran would be highly sought after in power five. He would essentially be an AD’s fallback guy if their first 4-5 choices didn’t pan out.

Forget “upper tier” lol. No P5 AD who likes his job is hiring a 61 year old coach who has never recruited at a high level and has never been to a sweet sixteen.

Come on...

At this point in his career, a more realistic measure is whether he is “a coaches’ coach.” That is to say, do other high level coaches seek him out for basketball advice? I don’t pretend to have an answer to that question but he seems fairly well regarded by his peers. Beilein, e.g., respects him. That says a lot to me.

yeah but what about all the great recruits fran has coming in?

:)

Lets see how the season goes....I am not expecting much. Apparently a CBI invite in which you have to pay to get invited is all it takes to satisfy a portion of the fan base.

The nepotism charge against Coach Fran is going to
cost him the support of some fans and some of his
players.

Against DePaul, Connor had more minutes than
Toussaint. If that factor does not change before
the Big Ten season, then Fran has some explaining
to do.
and You need to watch only a couple of minutes of Connor vs Toussaint to see the difference in natural abilities and quickness. Connor is non-fluid mechanical in all aspects of his play...he was just in over his head against DePaul players.

I hope Fran figures out things before going to deep into the season...also can't be rotating that many players...should have good idea who you're first 7-8 are and then only go deeper if there are foul issues.

Going to need pics of that sister before laying down judgement.

This is impressive. This poster waited 2 years from the time they created the account to post. That is some dedicated trolling.
