Why Can't the US Get Aid Into Gaza?

Biden announced the pier plan 2 and a half months ago. The pier was finally completed last week. US troops are not allowed to be involved on the ground.

Moving aid from the pier to the land hasn't been working well.

Maybe getting the pier built was more impressive than it looks. I'd like to think that must be it, because it doesn't look that impressive. It certainly doesn't look like it should have taken that long.

But at least it's there now.

With all that lead time, why aren't the food and medicines getting where they need to go? Sure, there are desperate people. And others in it for greed or whatever. So the logistics aren't simple. But we knew all that from the git-go.

Even with the best plans, we could expect some glitches. But it hardly looks like we gave much thought to what should happen after the pier was built.

A for concept.
C for execution.
F for effectiveness (so far).

Don't know. I saw they put some giant ass defense weapon on it, that thing looked gnarly.

I know, brokenrecord.gif, but seiously, name one thing in the last 3.5 years that Biden had to show leadership through that he got above a "C" on.

Given how many Republicans keep touting the infrastructure bill (you know the one they voted against) that one sure seems like an “A”.

Plenty to pick at with Biden, but he has done some good things.

Hamas has said the group will resist any foreign presence associated with the project

Well then, let’s offer a ceasefire that keeps them in power…

There are some legitimate reasons why it has taken so long and I don’t think it’s fair to blame Biden for it. The equipment and landing crafts needed to contruct the pier left the United States just a couple days after Biden’s SOTU speech, but it takes several weeks to cross the ocean and reach Gaza. Once everything arrived, it only took a couple weeks to build it. It’s probably reasonable to wait and see how well aid is moving in a couple weeks.

I already pointed out how many republicans are celebrating the infrastructure bill he pushed through despite voting against it. If you were not so eager to play team politics maybe you would have the time to comprehend the posts you are responding to.

That way you wouldn’t appear so stupid.
You're as big an idiot as he is, House Plant II!

No doubt. To the extent there's a criticism, it would/should be that anybody with an ounce of critical path thinking would have been thinking hard about the "last mile" elements of distribution in this environment while they were building the "first mile" distribution infrastructure. I'm sure they didn't ignore it, but assuming that the reality has always been that US troops were not going to be escorting convoys through Gaza, in the interim they probably needed to be thinking a little harder, and perhaps not pissing off the most likely candidates for taking that role on.

I saw video of suspected terrorist gangs offloading boxes and boxes of stuff. Locals said they took them to a warehouse controlled by Hamas.
Better question is why weren’t those pieces of garbage machine gunned?
It's why Big3 accounting firms will be happy to draft policies and grant terms for government agencies around anticorruption in the context of foreign redevelopment aid, but under no circumstances will they actually audit those grant expenditures for anticorruption problems.

Gun down these people too?

Alright, overly simplistic idea but someone tell me why this wouldn't work.

If Hamas is stealing our shit, throw a couple "apple tags" in the packages and smart bomb the shit out of them.

I don't understand why we feel the need to fight fair against an organization the entire world has declared terrorist.
assuming the average Hamas member has, likely, the equivalent of a 2nd grade education; it does seem strange Israel cannot deploy various techniques like you mentioned to root em out more effectively.

That's what I'm saying you think those **** know about that kind of stuff? By thr time they found it they would be dead. And you could track everything so "good" shipments wouldn't get touched.

Part of me is waiting for someone, likely smarter than I, to say "that's against the Geneva convention because".... but it hasn't happened yet.

But at this point, I'm thinking I might be on to something.

Not sure how many people have Apple products there. Airtag location would be where it was dropped off as no one would have apple product within 30 feet.

I'm assuming the "not united states" military has access to something better suited for the task.

But you get the idea.

Just track the ****ers, let them lead you back to their nest. Hell don't even bomb them, see who is working with them and go dark ops on them.

They are accepting our "Trojan horse" and we don't seem to know what to do with that.

Am I in charge of this?
Terrorism is bad. Hamas is bad. Malnourished civilians are bad.

Of course not, no. Our interaction the other day left me with the impression that you and Parnell would like to be kept apprised any time I defend Biden. So I tagged you as a courtesy.

Um...we can't get aid to Gaza because it's controlled by terrorists and we don't have a real plan to get it to the people, only to get it to the pier.

We're helping Hamas and close Hamas supporters, thereby hurting our ally and the actual innocent civilians we should be helping (who are relatively few).

Because Mossad is not in charge.

Clever. Maybe not Apple Tags but something similar.

What's wrong with this idea? I mean we don't have to bomb them if satellites or whatever report that the supplies are actually getting to the people who need them.

And obviously we wouldn't be bombing them, but that's another issue.

Mossad knows who and what and where. Those guys would have been toast.
They are the best because Israel’s survival depends on it.
I think I misunderstood. I read your post to say there were things that are off limits currently because Mossad is not in charge.

Though that does beg some more questions I hadn't considered.

Speaker of the House, lil’ Mikey Johnson, has invited Bibi to address a joint session of Congress.

That could get interesting, depending on how many Hamas/BLM protesters are allowed to invade those hallowed halls.

This sounds like a job for Mark Rober.

What took him so long?

I always love it when Republicans recruit foreigners to help them win elections . . . like Israel and Russia and the Saudis.

Bibi had better hope his flight doesn't have to stop in one of the nations that respects the International Criminal Court.

Like dems have done with the racial impoverished in our own county. Cool platform to stand on.

Thanks. I’ll start a file that should be overflowing within a month or two.
