like they talk about the football team? Hard work, gutsy play, tough, etc.

Which is all true of course, but how about they are pretty f'n good? What about they are talented and have multiple players with plenty of skills.

Commentators are among the least creative bunch on the planet. It's always felt reasonable to me given they do so many different teams. Identify a narrative and bang it home - pretty simple.

And if people get frustrated and complain even better!

Because the idea of Iowa success is foreign to the sporting community. Iowa exists to provide wins for more important and profitable programs like Michigan and Michigan St. The other programs just must be more talented.

Of course the fact that we start three ESPN top 100s and a Parade AA (not what it used to be but not inconsequential either) who are all experienced starters that have never fared worse than NIT finals is never mentioned.

But I'll bet its mentioned to recruits; early and often.

This type of thing always reminds me of how Haluska was often described as less athletic than a lot of the other 3's he was matched up against. The guy ran 10.76 100m in high school. Was a great basketball player, but in hind sight, probably had a better chance of being a pro athlete as a football player.

For example, Crispin saying Michigan is going to make a run or Michigan has another run in them. No mention how Iowa answered all of those runs. To boot, Crispin was in studio after Iowa's win @ MSU and said he was now a believer in Iowa. Sure didn't sound like it today.

Noticed this also. Got tired of listening after awhile!

Just trying to keep the game interesting. It never really seemed like Michigan was going to win. Kept it close but even someone like me with grade III anxiety disorder never thought we'd lose. If we beat Purdue at home we might start getting some national love. Hawks probably moving into top 10 this week. That has to bring some good publicity.
