About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I'm not overweight, but do have a genetic tendency for Type II. I was prescribed a moderate dose of metformin, and a periodic shot of Ozempic. I immediately said no to the Ozempic. I did a ton of research on Type II diabetes. I made immediate diet changes and my A1C went from 11.3 to 6.3 in 4 months. In 3 more months I went to 6.1. My doctor told me that he's never seen anything like that. He said most people simply rely on medication to bring down their number. He also said the dosages tend to rise over time. He cut my metformin dose in half, to essentially the minimum he could prescribe. Next visit I'm down to 6.0, then discontinued the meds altogether after that. In the years since, I'm still at 6.1 or less with no meds.
I read anything and everything that comes across my news feed on this subject. I read every food label for a food I haven't eaten recently. I still check my glucose level to see if certain foods spike my blood glucose.
I'd say I have sufficient expertise to comment on this besides my "feelings".
