There appears to be some major issues at Wells Fargo Arena (the Well) based on what I have read and seen:

* When inside the Well, can people get their data plan to work? Ie, can you access the internet and your apps using your Verizon, AT& T, Sprint, etc data plan?

* Can you get Wi fi to work? I have seen comments where people are trying to access the Well's wi fi but they cannot access the internet or other apps. One person was trying to upload to Twitter and the post only uploaded once outside the building.

* I just noticed at half time they went to interview John Beilein and there was no sound. That was not a good look. They then suddenly had to go to commercial. Was that an arena problem, too?

For a newer building, I am surprised to see all these issues.

I mentioned it in the Des Moines thread from a few days ago. The data coverage is the remaining thing that needs improved before next time.

The GM of the arena was on the radio multiple times this week and knows it’s an issue they need to improve.

Wow. I thought that was supposed to be fixed a long time ago in order to host future NCAA tournaments.
Seems like they coul just put some more towers on the roof and solve it. Iowa St football brings in extra towers and I think Ragbrai does also.

I guess it isn’t that easy.

The Well hosted the NCAA's in 2016, correct?

Wasn't this issue supposed to be fixed between then & now? They have had 3 years to fix this?

If I were the NCAA I would not be happy.
I don’t really care that much. It’s something to look at during the very long TV timeouts and halftime.

Des Moines sold out all of its tickets before any other location. The NCAA will make plenty of money from merch and other stuff. They’ll get over the WiFi thing.

The TV announcers just gave Des Moines and Iowa huge props saying it was the best venue they’ve ever been a part of and they hope it becomes a regular part of the NCAA tournament tour. Congratulations, Drs Moines and way to represent!

I was at The Well on both Thursday and tonight. Cell service was non existent for me with Verizon but others in my group had great service with US Cellular. The only other issue was that on Thursday they wouldn’t allow public parking in the lot adjacent to the arena even though a map was sent out that stated it was. We had to park at Principal Park and take a shuttle. Not sure if people complained but it was open to the public today. We went in 2016 and all other issues were fixed... they actually opened up at least one additional restroom for men by putting a white piece of paper with the dude logo over the women’s logo. It was a tremendous event!
