Here we are again and Brands has completely bungled the lineup again. Holes at 25 and 41, wasted an entire year waiting to see if Nelson ever got healthy, when your best lineup was always Gabe 174 and Angelo 184. Odds are he bungles it again next year with holes at 25, 41, 49, 57, and 97

If they repeat the issue next year, I agree.

If they did that intentionally to build up the next two years, then it was a smart move. That’s the real question and I don’t think we will really know the answer until next fall.

You watched that tournament and your takeaway was that “the lineup” is a big problem?

Not even close to one of the top 5 problems in this program.

The problem was earlier in the season. Not getting your lineup correct is a definite problem. There aren’t five bigger problems than that.

The only lineup move that absolutely means more points is Ferrari at 184 which is what, maybe 10 points? You don’t think things like recruiting, strength training, conditioning, bottom wrestling, lack of pins, etc. are bigger issues than 10 points?

K. 😂

Wasting a year of Angelo’s eligibility would have been a problem. We are trying to stack studs together for as many years as possible, and maximize Angelo’s personal results also. Why is this so hard for people to get through their heads?

Gabe would’ve been 174 and finished top 3 at worse.

Bottom wrestling? There are no issues with strength training. Recruiting is about the only one as important as the lineup

You don’t know what you have in any of those years, you only know what you have this year.

Kennedy and Gabe are neck and neck.

The Hawks struggle getting out from underneath. And we are consistently underpowered against high quality opponents. And conditioning? We are both poor cutters AND poor at building guys up to new weights. You’re not watching if you don’t see these things.

Any of those is a bigger and more far reaching issue than “the line up.”

Y’all have a star coming in with Harvey Lundington ,he’ll be a 4x AA and national champ , he just attacks on his feet constantly and he ll be 20 at the start of next season so he’s ready right away , you think Ferrari ever goes up to 197 or is he a career 184 bc not fitting this kid into the lineup would be criminal

Getting out from bottom isn’t technical and who exactly has been ridden out this year. Iowa isn’t getting out muscled and strength is more about effort and the individual than it is the program. If you would’ve said finishing shots and getting to offense you would have something. The lineup is a top 3 issue, not debatable

Ironside disagrees with you in a big way.

Have fun with your lineup claim. That extra 10 points would have bumped us from 3rd all the way to 3rd.

Meanwhile there are major issues in the program and yes that includes a modern and effective S&C program.

Having two guys finish two to four spots better is more than ten points and you would have more bonus as well.
Brands not putting his best lineup out there is a major issue and continues to be a problem. Tell us how S&C has been ineffective?

If Gabe was the best at 174, he would have been there. Why wouldn't he have challenged for his best weight?

You can’t predict the future, he was the best at 84. Put the best lineup out there
Wrong. We need to group the best lineup together for as many years as possible. Best outcome for Angelo this year was 3rd (or 4th after tonight). Best outcome starting next year is 4 time champion. Can’t comprehend why anyone would want him out there this year to help us finish 2nd (or 3rd or worse).

So they had an old kid already and decided to hold him back? All I got out of that is he’ll be 20 by next season lol. Ferrari most definitely could move up. He’s got the frame for it. Just depends on how much muscle he and/or iowa wants him to put on. But I can’t see him ever going 197 if his brother is still wrestling in that class. I’d love to be wrong about that tho and see Ferrari vs Ferrari lol. Prolly be a boring match but the after match could be classic

That’s technically the best outcome for all freshman lol other than CStar. All you have to do is look at Spencer for why you wrestle them while they’re your best guy and they’re healthy. Spencer lost his chance at his 4th title during what should have been his easiest run? I know his first was stacked, the second was also tough but Riveria got beat, the third he goes on with no knees and runs through everyone. Then bad luck hits and he gets caught. Saving guys “just because they might be a 4timer is crazy”. I don’t believe that’s why they’re redshirting him anyway. If they hadn’t messed up with Arnold last year I think Ferrari is wrestling and Arnold is redshirting.
