Will the B1G flop in the 2022 NCAA tourney?

Anything is possible with each game- hot night vs cold night

Perfect Example - Notre Dame. First Four Double OT win in Dayton. Fly to San Diego to play Alabama less than 2 days later. ND shoots 53% and Bama shoots 40% ... who wins?

Things look favorable for Purdue and Wisconsin today. Ohio State and Michigan State look to be in positions Iowa was in a few years back when they had to play Gonzaga in the 2nd round one year, and Villanova in another. If I'm not mistaken, those were Sunday games as well.

I have the very strong opinion that because the Big Ten officiating is so bad... outcome of games are predetermined... that it doesn't allow for teams to grow and prosper... thereby making it nearly impossible for them to make a significant run in the NCAA tournament.

you water a plant and it grows
you suffocate it and it dies

same thing with Big Ten basketball teams

when the refs don't allow players to determine who wins and loses
these teams are suffocated.... they don't grow.
winners and losers alike

So Indiana, Rutgers, Iowa , Illinois, OSU now out.

MSU really tought draw with Duke

Unfortunately, Wisconsin is alive and kicking.
Michigan overachieving

Purdue all set up to make Final-4, but they don't play very good defense.

B1G is not very good at basketball despite having a lot of star power this year.

Duke 63 - Michigan State 61 with 8:24 left.

Wisconsin 26 - ISU 25 with 31 seconds left in 1st half

I had Duke over MSU in my brackets, so I had to root for Dukie...and they did pull it out.

I can't stand Wisconsin....however an ISU win over the Big10 champion Badgers would leave a mark
on what is left of B1G basketball reputation.

When you look at seeding, who has not advanced based on their seeding? Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa?

Clearly Iliinois and Wisconsin underachieved---they were b1g co-champs. MSU did as well as they could...they got a tough Duke team. OSU was 7 seed lost to 2 seed Villanova. Michigan overachieved. Indiana was a First 4 team. Rutgers lost to lower seed Notre DAme, but Notre dame looks like an underseeded team. Iowa blew it.

Purdue needs to beat texas or looks like B1G is done. I don't expect Michigan run to last.

The SEC may have laid a bigger turd.....Kentucky, Auburn, Tennesse, LSU.

Arkansas is still alive ... :) the Razorbacks get the Zags coming up.

Forgot about Rutgers.

OSU is like us, bunch of chokers.

OSU choked big time vs Oral Roberts last year. At least they won one.

Doesn't seeme like winning 2 games in a row should be such a high hurdle and yet Big10 teams can't do it.
2 out of 9 isn't very good

. This was the year. for Iowa....in past Oregon and Gonzaga and Villanova were effing tough draws.

Purdue ready to finish off Texas. That makes Michigan and Purdue the Big Ten survivors into the Sweet 16.

Michigan gets Villanova
Purdue faces the upstart St Peters.
Really pathetic showing this year by the B1G. So nice of CBS to show how the conference has exited early over the years and not had a national champion since 2000.

Don't want them to show facts? Change the narrative. The Big Ten is still a damn good Basketball Conference, only one Team cuts the nets down every year. Tough gig.

Been 21 years since that team was from the B1G. Do you honestly expect Michigan or Purdue to survive next weekend? I don’t.

The conference is hardly “damn good” at basketball. Fairly pedestrian, IMHO.

It's got the best middle and bottom section of any conference. The top isn't up to snuff though, and I think a large part of that is largely mediocre guard play.

That being said, Purdue is the B1G's only legit hope to get to the FF and even that doesn't look likely. I'll be pulling for them though.

of course B1G isn't say the A10 for exampe.

The B1G is one of the P5 conferences with enourmous in-state recruiting advantages and huge money edge--so great facilities, shoud be better NIL eventually, and coaches Well paid.

The B1G used to be the ELITE basketball conference and now is more often than not 3rd, 4th in the P5
ranking. So B1G is meh...that make you feel better?

Purdue has St Peters and then UCLA/North Carolina winner. Purdue won at North Carolina already this year. If there's ever a time for Purdue to make it to the Final Four, it is this year.

Now, will they do it?

Feel better? LOL! I care about Iowa first and foremost, I certainly don't get worked up about the Big Ten's position in some power ranking.

What a Black Sunday for the B1G! Purdue, maybe the only team in the conference I can pull for without holding my nose due to the respect I have for Painter, is the only B1G with a whisper of a chance. Overall, the least watched tournament for me in my lifetime due the Hawks flaming out so quickly. This body blows just keep on coming!

I’m not surprised by the Big Ten’s showing.

But I am shocked at how bad the SEC did. Wow.
