I've been watching him for years and know his defense is his offense, but can he get away with that in the Big 10? On top is where he wins matches. Can he get cheap tilts at this level as a legger? Most don't. He's a different type of scambler though. I'll take him in Iowa City and would love for him to work with my oldest son who is cursed by wife's family with her family genes of being 6'4" and skinny until high school. That's what makes him a wrestler we never miss watching. My oldest is forced to win by riding and counters. He'd be a perfect wrestler to help him.

I don't mean to make it about my son, but their body types in wrestling are few and far between. I'm having trouble getting Saitiev for private lessons.

You can't blame SansSouci for being proud of his kids. I am certainly proud of my 3 girls and would love to brag to this fine crowd about their wrestling accomplishments if they had any. Seems we resort to piling on when we smell blood; that said, some folks could probably help themselves by knowing when to stop.

Haha. I'm sure he'll go to UNI, which would work better for me. Doug had to be the voice of reason for Seth, as quoted. They're are a family of wrestlers who stand by each without spitting adhd shit in their face.

Brands are frickin' out of control with their 90's mentality. One good wrestler and Iowa also-rans will be Iowa's death. Enjoy the slide.

Spencer and Mark won't step foot on that campus with those freaks....and Spooner.

Oh no! How will Iowa wrestling ever survive without the superstar 10 and 12 year olds, Spencer and Mark? May as well fold the program now and save ourselves the trouble.

There's being proud of your kids. Then there's injecting them into somewhat random message board conversations, bragging about them, being an arrogant douche when it comes to them, and using their schoolboy wrestling success as a tool to tear down the Iowa program. This guy is the latter.

I'm afraid you're right Spooner. I was trying to give him some benefit of doubt but it appears he's traveling down the slippery slope at a rapid pace.

I really do feel sorry for your kids. And for Schwab having to put up with you. I bet he cringes every time he sees you.

If these kids have their choice I bet they will try to go to school as far away from the state of Iowa as possible, and it will not be because of the Brands.

Back on topic, Degen had his official the weekend of the Night of Conflict. Said that some coaches even envision him as a 133 in college (Scotti Sentes comparison gets thrown around quite a bit).
This past weekend he was on another offical at VT. He has visited: Utah Valley, SDSU, Minnesota, Iowa, and now VT.

Has this kid moved around in HS? Most of his stuff lists Legends of the gold as his club. I'm pretty sure that's in Beresford, SD which is closer to Sioux Falls and a heck of a long ways from Montana. Anyways, that's a great club and Cody Pack's(SDSU 57lber) runs it.

Well he is a three-time MT state champion so he hasn't moved around in high school (can't speak for before that). He trains at Big Game now, which is run by former Hawkeye Dylan Carew.

Not that this officially rules them out, but Utah Valley did pick up Taylor Lamont at 133. UVU could easily see Degen as a 141 so like I said, not ruling that school out.

VT has Brent Moore (St. Paris Graham) as a 141 recuits in 2016.

Iowa has Rathbun and Happel for 133 and 141.

Good for him...we made our bed when Happel signed although this kid could have been at 149 or 157 depending.

Article said" getting St. John and Zadick was a big influence." Plans on going 141 in college.

Yup...kid loved his Hawks. Too bad we couldn't make it fit. Happy to have all of our guys but would have liked him here as well.

I feel bad for Souci's kid, he really could use a training partner like Degen.

Doesn't Degen know that Schwab, along with Spencer and Mark San Souci, are the future of USA wrestling??? I mean, Spencer is 11 and he has a long body, too! Huge mistake. Big.
