...three weeks early. 20 degrees with a wind chill of - 3. Enough blowing snow to put cars in the ditch on I 380/80. I was close this AM, fish tailed across 3 lanes before saving it like Dick Trickle at Talladega. Gonna stop at Menards and throw some softener salt in the back of the pickup on the way home. 11% off...

Yup, today was the first measurable snowfall here in CF and damn near everyone turned into this guy on the roads this morning. So many dipshit drivers on my way to the gym.

Sun took care of most of the snow during the day, but the city of CR is out sanding every corner street of the city. I realize that it will freeze tonight but just hit the main roads. Truck just came by my house and I live on a dead-end on the far edge of town.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the 11% rebate ended last week. Usually comes back in January after the holidays.

Here is another sure sign of Winter, 3 dead and one injured when an idiot attempted to pass a snowplow on Hwy 1 in Washington County
https://www.kcrg.com/2024/12/02/three-dead-one-injured-head-on-crash-washington-county/
"The Iowa State Patrol said it happened in the 1700 block of IA-1 when the driver of a Buick Park Avenue, which was heading southbound, tried to pass a snowplow."

The person driving this has to be 80+ years old. Nobody younger than that drives a Buick Park Avenue.

Yesterday when I left Santiago, DR, it was 84F, humid as hell and HOT in the sun……I am home now, and yesterday’s weather seems like a lifetime ago…..and it ain’t even cold yet! But boy, “ it’s great to be back home…..Home is where I wanna be…….,”…..and “How ‘bout them Hawks?!”

So, you're "that guy"?

I hate novices at the first snowfall, especially douches in pickups. Drive like you live in Iowa.

Special weather alert- We'll be cold, but it should be drier than normal this winter. Much like OP's mom.

Sadly, that person killed a person in the car that they hit, which wasn't doing anything stupid.

Probably. But there's an era of Buicks that had the 2nd gen 3800 V6 that are highly sought after as used cars nowadays.

One of the very best engines GM EVER made.

I drove one in residency. And my first car was a Lincoln Town car with air suspension. I love a good boat.

No, I'm not that " guy ". Going 20 under the speed limit before the windblown crest of the hill. Weathermen never predicted it, hence no weight in the back. In fact Farm Bureau refers to me on my insurance policy as an " elite " driver, hence the big discount. Only claim in 50 years was the Kamikaze 10 point buck near Monticello in 2021. My point was if it can happen to me it could happen to more run of the mill drivers like yourself... :)

We had about 2” of snowfall at the house last night that started falling while roads were still warm. Classic case of ice under the snow. Our little road was slick as Owl scat and the guard rails took a beating along the interstate.
I think one location close by wound up with 11” of snow, which is a respectable amount. Temps expected to be in the teens tonight. Just stoked the wood stove to keep the heat pump from working overtime.
