Wisconsin is what Ferentz wishes Iowa could be, but never sustained

I honestly don't believe Wisconsin is that good.

They've just looked good against mediocre teams. And Iowa is a mediocre team. Last week was just one of those games that happen.

Iowa is back to normal this week. Below average offensive line play, drops, and uninspired play calling.
I think you are wrong.
This is a very good defense, very good secondary, great front seven.
Very good OL, great, great RB, WRs are young but more athletic than usual Badger WRs, 2 good , Athletic TEs and a mediocre QB who makes just enough good throws.
Good specials, very good kickers, Badgers are a very, very good team.

Anyone who doesnt think Wisconsin is that good should just look at their record over the last decade. They are one of the best teams in the country in that time frame and have been the ultra-consistent. I, for one, am jealous of where there program is compared to Iowa over that time.
It goes back to the Barry Alvarez era.

Iowa held to 75 yards.

Actually, it's the loss of KOK that Iowa never recovered from. He left after 2010, I think. Phil Parker has done a good job taking Norm's place. Iowa hasn't had a consistently good offense since Stanzi was QB (2015 notwithstanding).

Good offenses were few and far between in the kok years too.

For a long time kok was the scape goat.

It Kirk, its always been Kirk.

I agree.

Hard to draw a ton from the defense given how inept the Iowa offense looked, but they had some dudes flying all over the place. I was also really impressed with some of the plays their WR made.

They're not world beaters but they're a solid football team. I haven't seen anybody this year they shouldn't be able to hang with

I would be so bold as to suggest you don't understand football. Games are won in the trenches and that is exactly where Wisconsin wins them. If there is an OL U, it is Wisconsin and not Iowa.

I think they are very good. Maybe double-very, Will be watching the next few weeks to see how they finish.

We can run, throw enough, kick and play good defense, we’ve been decimated by key injuries and it doesn’t seem to matter.
Badgers deserve some credit, this is a VERY good team.

Ding ding ding.

I'm not what you would consider "ancient," but I do remember UW pre-Alvarez, and they sucked in every single sport. That man stepped on campus and changed the culture of the entire athletic department (well before he was AD).

The only other 180-degree turnaround I find nearly comparable is Kansas State's football program brought to life by Bill Snyder (ironically, also a Hayden disciple). They struggled to win 1-3 games a year for DECADES - they sucked all the way back to the Nile Kinnick days (ok, I'm not old enough to remember THAT).

I think what is so frustrating for Hawkeye fans is exactly what others have pointed out in this thread - that while no one reasonably expects to be competing for a national championship every year, it is hard to see why we cannot be highly competitive a vast majority of years in the major sports -- like Wisconsin.

Yes, it is Kirk. He broke his own record, too. It was the worst offensive performance by one of his teams in his 19 years as Iowa's head coach. Quite an accomplishment.

VERY good teams don't turn the ball over so much. The key injuries will show against the best teams

And I will be so bold as to suggest you don't know how to read.
