Not sure if this is true or not but have heard they return maybe one starter and are very own Van Ginkle.. not even sure if he was a starter or not? I am sorry you just can’t plug n play all new defensive starters and think that they can produce like they did this past year unless they took some players from the GB Pack... IMHO I think Jimmy Leonard will have a tough task a head of him next year.

As far as Wisconsin, I can’t stand them.. however what they accomplished this year was incredible and they deserve a lot of credit .. they were an EXTREMELY GOOD football program and have been for this last decade or more

Still, Jim Leonard (Wisconsin's DC) has done a very good job at Wisconsin. He could become the next Pat Narduzzi of the non blueblood B1G programs. Next year test his mettle as 7 new starters to their 3-4 defense. Leonard may be reaping the some of the benefits of former Wisky DC/ LSU DC Dave Aranda's lingering influence on multi-year veterans. We will see.

Barry Alvarez's thumb print in all over this program. When Barry finally retires from Wisconsin (having influence), Wisconsin will take a step back. Chryst may be good but I've never been impressed with their QBs. Wisconsin has had some good WRs and that has made the difference, IMO.

You are not correct. I think five graduate.
I believe he's referencing the broadcast. Another 5 or 6 are redshirt juniors and could make the jump if they want. They said many of them are well thought of by the draft guru's, but I doubt if they all leave. Still a pretty big void. Of course as we know it never seems to matter for Bucky, so we'll see. We said the same thing this off season when they lost several LB's to injury and look how that ended up.

They lose a lot on D, but virtually their entire O is back. They have proven the ability to reload on D, offensive consistency is their issue.....sound familiar?

Anderson installed the 3-4 defense. You have to give Jim Leonard some credit--what he did on defense made fools of BF and KF. That had to be the most ill prepared and outclassed Iowa offense I have ever seen.

Wisconsin had great defense, but Ohio State did show a recipe on how to score on them----mobile quarterback and throw deep on them. Barrett missed a couple big throws and OSU receivers dropped a TD...so could have been a bigger beat down in B1G championship.

Multiple back ups got playing time, all season, on the defensive side of the ball. I expect them to take a small step back but they won't fall out of the top 30, defensively.

Actually six seniors are gone, and Nelson announced he was leaving early. So 7 gone.

TJ Edwards may leave early as well, which would make 8 players gone. D'Cota Dixon is a junior and was 1st team all Big 10 this year, but I haven't heard anything about him leaving early. I don't think any of their other juniors (e.g., Van Ginkel, Connelly, Sagapolu) are considering leaving early.

Yes, that’s probably it. I do recall the broadcast saying something about 10 guys possibly being gone.

I thought it would matter with all of the coaching changes... it didn’t. I thought the injuries would matter... they didn’t. The badgers have reached a level our Hawks might never reach, sniff.

The announcer was misleading... it’s 10-11 in the 2 deeps not just first team D. It won’t make a big difference as they will be good regardless.

Edwards says he is returning but Jim will have his work cut out for himself with the secondary.
This may be the year where the offense carries the defense.
