Has anyone in the know heard of any comments or reaction from the Iowa staff? I fully understand they concentrating more on their own team than what is going on at ISU-just curious.

They will focus on ISU when it is time to wrestle them. Until then making Iowa the best is all that is important.
I guess I should have been more specific. I know they're not worried about ISU. Was asking more about issues between HWC and UofI Foundation.

I think what's happening at ISU, PSU, tOSU, Okie State, and elsewhere will just serve as another catalyst to wake up the U of I and its fans. Of course, the staff have had the pedal to the metal all along, doing their best to develop champs, but the rest of us are paying more attention, and I think that will only strengthen the current groundswell of support from Hawkeye Nation. In a way, recent developments at ISU could be a blessing in disguise, as it only makes the U of I Athletic Department wake up that much more.

Even if someone interviewed Tom and asked, you wont get much more than the typical " I like our guys"

I'm guessing the real take will be asking in private at an I Club outing.

IMO I would guess Brands is ok with it and realizes that was too good of money and the chance to build up the resumes for Zaddick, DSJ and Metcalf. You cannot be mad at those guys.

Now the question ive wanted answered for a long time is: Does Morningstar want to be a head coach of his own program anytime in the near future (say within 5 yrs or 10 yrs) or is he content being an assistant for life and inheriting the job from Brands when he retires how ever long that may be?

Berhow will eventually get a better title offer elsewhere but is M* making enough in 3rd spot he isn't even interested?

This is exactly how I feel. Im sort of glad it is happening. Might shakes some trees. (as if PSU shouldnt have already)

I'm glad everyone has what seems like a renewed sense of pride in the program and are literally putting their money where their mouth is. I for one wouldn't mind hearing from the head man about what his battle plan is. Sure we can give him the benefit of the doubt that the's been 100% the whole time (which I know he was/is), but clearly he wasn't getting the job done with the current route.

What's his planning on changing things. Are we just going to just have to trust the process? Other programs are making it happen or giving it a hell of a go. I know TnT are, but I want a visual. I want a fiery speech or something. Get me excited, so I want to get my season tickets back, donate to HWC, etc.

If I just have to except that their too busy, then give me M*. If that's too much of a hassle, well then it's too much of a hassle for me. My offer to provide volunteer labor still stands.

The HWC banquet would be a good opportunity to hear from the head man. If you can make it, it's always a great time.

As for the plan, I agree that it's always great to hear that kind of thing straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. That said, I think we can piece together some of the main priorities these days, using a combination of what's common knowledge and common sense:

1. Recruiting. Definitely on an up-tick, and rather clearly the result of some tweaking of procedure and points of emphasis. No signs that things are slowing down in this area. Doing great on this front and need to stay the course and continue to bring in the horses.

2. Facilities. It's no secret that there's a bit of an arms race going on among the top programs. Iowa could use an upgrade. Just an average fan, but I don't have any doubt that the guys are hard at work in this area, doing all they can to put together a top-notch facility. This would obviously take some time and effort, but I'm confident that work is being done to put the Iowa program in good position where facilities are concerned. Of course, #2 dovetails nicely with #1 and would only enhance recruiting, which is already on the right track.

3. Strengthening the HWC. Well, we're off to a pretty good start over the last couple of days. Hopefully the support starts coming in bigger and bigger "chunks", and I think that's entirely conceivable. It's clear that a lot of work is being done to harness the power of the biggest and best fan base in the nation. This will hopefully include some work with the U of I to determine ways that the Athletic Department can be supportive while staying well within NCAA guidelines. We do things the right way at Iowa -- no bending the rules. Something in which we can all take pride. That said, we can also be resourceful and smart about how we strengthen the HWC (and establish a premier RTC). The more financially strong the HWC, the less time and energy the wrestlers and staff have to put into fundraising, and the more capacity to bring in great personnel.

4. Dodgeball. Lots and lots and lots and lots of dodgeball.

From the outside looking in, that's one fan's guess as to a general plan. Plenty to get pumpdog on board, I'm sure! Let's see that copy and paste, dog!;)

EDIT: Actually, forget the copy-and-paste. Forgot you offered volunteer labor. That's even cooler. I have little doubt there will be a place for you to pitch in soon!
