Take Woodbury’s defense and no offense or Garza’s offense and no defense?

Minus his wanna be JBo 3 point shooting of course.

Woodbury averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds over his Iowa career and couldn’t shoot free throws. I’d say they are comparable athletically speaking.

Garza with Gesell might have worked on offense, assuming Garza shot the pick/pop reasonably well. Gesell might have gotten downhill a lot off a Garza ball screen. Sorta like that short Michigan guy using that very tall Michigan guy who shoots some threes.

Woody was a great defensive fit for his teams, but his guards and wings were good defenders. Gesell and Sapp, both good. White gambled a lot but was good at it, and could lock down when needed. Uthoff smart and long. And so on.

Woody on this team wouldn’t look so good. He would cover the corners better in the zone, but damn he would foul out because he would probably struggle as a rim protector. Not in his nature to give up layups and dunks.

Wouldn't need to play nearly as much zone with Woodbury, which would make most of the rest of the team better on that end.

Woody would have helped Jbo in man quite a bit with his ability to get on top of ball screens and turn them around.

He was also good at cutting off drives before a shot would be attempted

I'd rather have Gabe.

Garza does score some points. I wonder in the end if his issues defending and rebounding make him a net negative.

We need a Greg Stokes or Acie Earl. Heck, I would take Les Jepsen (senior year) or Kevin Kunnert.
