I didn't realize there was a debate over OOC between KF and HF. It looks pretty clear that HF had a tougher OOC schedule, although, it should be noted that ISU was absolutely pitiful for much of that time and has had some decent years in the KF tenure. I think it was also noted above that HF had more guaranteed conference wins with NW and IN almost always being a 30 point win in the 80's. Wisconsin was also not yet built up for most of HC's tenure.
On another note, it was mentioned above the awful Iowa schedule this year and under KF. Cowherd belabored that point. The OOC really wasn't that bad. It was actually the in-conference schedule that killed Iowa this year. For this year, they played two power five teams and the schedule was actually rated ok until mid conference when they didn't pick up a MSU or OSU. So the comment that Iowa "KSU's" it isn't really accurate. Iowa doesn't kill it but if you want to look at poor out of conference schedules look at Baylor who plays teams who don't have a pulse. To that point, Iowa will probably take heat for playing NDSU next year but that team will be better than most bottom level power five teams.
