Wow. Nebraska sucks.

Raridon, Farniok, Honas, just some of the players who had it down to Iowa or Nebraska. To those young men: do you like apples?

I don't know what the all-time losing streak is but the Huskers are up to 8.

Being a great player and being a great teacher are two very different things.
i get that - the best coaches seem to be guys that struggled and had to put in the EXTRA effort to be just average at the highest levels. Ummm - so how did Frost do in the NFL?

We are lucky we play in such a crap division. We get to play Nebraska, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa St and two crap non con games every year. We can basically cash in at least 6-7 wins every year. Makes us look a lot better than we've really been the past 5-6 years.
Get lost troll.

I don't like Nebraska but come on... it's his first year. Kirk won 1 game in his first season and picked things up to get to the Orange Bowl in one of my most favorite seasons ever in 4 years. He cleaned out some of the old guys who quit and is playing some young guys. They will get better as much as I don't want them to.
I don't think that's a certainty as Frosty doesn't appear to have a level-headed temperament conducive to such a turnaround.

Obviously you people don’t remember the 60s or 70s. Iowa had plenty of 1-10 seasons.

I'm a history buff so I had to pull a book off the shelf and look it up.

1960-1980, worst Iowa records

0-11, 1973, Frank Lauterbur
1-10, 1971, Frank Lauterbur
1-9, 1965, Jerry Burns
1-8-1, 1967, Ray Nagel
2-9, 1978, Bob Commings
2-8, 1966, Ray Nagel
3-8, 1974, Bob Commings
3-8, 1975, Bob Commings
3-7-1, 1972, Frank Lauterbur

There is a popular misconception that Iowa suffered a streak of losing seasons between Jerry Burns' 5-4 1961 team and Hayden Fry's 8-4 1981 team. Ray Nagel's 1968 and 1969 teams both finished 5-5.

The 70s... oof

Well, 1-9, 1-8 and 2 and 3 win seasons make us feel a whole lot better.

Nebraska 3nd longest losing streak behind UTEP. How much lower could that sham of a football team go

At least one week longer with a loss at Wisconsin, so last 9 and maybe 10 due to traveling to NW the following week.

Might get that first win after NW with Goofs coming to town, followed by Bethune Cookman. But what a mess in Lincoln.

I suppose Ted Williams is the most obvious example. But why do all the Wrestler superstars become the greatest wrestling coaches? Or are they not really that good at coaching and just have the clout to get the best recruits?

Wrestling is very technical. It is about leverage, positioning, etc. There have been some very storing and athletic guys who never became wrestling superstars as they refused to embrace the technical side. You are not aware of them because they are gone in HS or sooner.

Frost has talent that Kirk didn't have until 2002. Fact.

I know it's hard to admit but there is just too much truth in what I said. Look at our bowl record and the results during that time frame. Iowa Football has not been good during this decade.

Too much truth in what I said. We benefit greatly from playing in a crap division. We are not that good of a football program. Just look at our bowl record and results this decade.

You do definitely sound like someone who should use 'we' in referring to Iowa football. I know you are just pushing for them to be better. Your balanced approach is appreciated.

Welp, at least we are better than your team.

UN's last win was against Purdue on 10-28-17. They play Bethune-Cookman on October 27th. They have a reasonable possibility of not going a year without a win.

Q. Why is it so much more difficult for Iowa’s defense to play well in Kinnick than when they’re on the road?

A. Because they’re wearing blackshirts.

My team is Iowa. I'm just a realist. Iowa football this decade has been a step back in quality compared to the decade before. I want Iowa football to be heading in a positive direction. We have benefited from playing in a very poor division and weak non conference games. Just look at our bowl record and the blowout losses. The football program isn't as good as it was 10 years ago. Right now we basically have 8 games every year where we are the favored more talented team just because of the poor quality in other West teams and our poor non con schedule. Kirk is set up every year to win 7-8 wins which is good enough for our fanbase even if he goes 2-5 in bowl games this decade with blowout losses. Since 2011 he is 1-5 in bowl games with a terrible record vs Wisconsin our biggest West rival.

A terribly coached football team. Frost talks a huge game in post game pressers, but he has been an absolutely dreadful coach this year.
You don`t recognize a tear down project when you see one? Frost is in the process and I doubt he cares much what their record will be. He will rebuild with his systems, staff, and recruits. I expected a crash and burn with a new staff. None of the staffs since TO have done a makeover, but Frost will do it his way. I think it is a smart move.

Meanwhile UCF also completely turns over their coaching staff and is on their way to a 12 win season.

LOL - you are truly delusional.

UCF was undefeated and beat Auburn last year to end the season. They lost their coach because he was a Neb guy. Neb was a trainwreck. You folks here are sharp
