WTF is Wrong with Iowa Republicans?

Latest Iowa Poll shows 51% of Iowa Republicans plan to caucus for Trump!
This is the same guy who attempted to stage a coup on 1/6/21...The same guy who has claimed the 2020 Presidential election was “stolen”...The same guy who had national secrets illegally removed from government property and was bragging to his friends “See, look what I have!”
And Iowgians are flocking to this guy and cannot hardly wait to vote for him again! The latest DM Register poll shows Trump at 51%, DeSantis at 19% and Haley at 16%...historically, polls regarding Iowa politics run by Ann Selzer show themselves to be very accurate.:
May God have Mercy on out souls!

I’ve been coming to the slow acceptance that our state is a now a MAGA state. It doesn’t seem like it on a day-to-day basis given on where you and I live, and who we associate with, but the numbers are the numbers.

I just have been oblivious to how many frustrated folks live in Iowa. But like you, I am not aware in part because of the folks I hang with, I guess. I know my kid is pretty intense about social stuff but he suffers from some mental issues....is Iowa a haven for mental disease? ;)

34.5% of Iowa voters are registered republican. So you're looking at just under 18% being MAGAs. That's pretty high, but it's by no means a majority.

If somehow Trump can be defeated or jailed, the vast majority of those will change allegiance very quickly.

But do understand that IF Trump were defeated, there would be a new villain who would be "nearly as bad or worse" than Trump.

The state has changed a lot since I left 15 years ago. And apparently not for the better.

Why people flock to Trump still is a mystery. Especially since there are so many significantly better candidates on the Republican side of things.

It’s enough to win the presidential election vote in Iowa, apparently. And no, there is not a viable candidate worse than trump.

I agree there's not a worse candidate, but it would be said if someone else gets the nomination, and I hope to have the opportunity to see it proven.

Truth be told, I might even be able to argue that DeSantis is worse because he's actually used the legislature to take direct aim at his political opponents (see Disney), where Trump passed on those opportunities.

Trump tried do everything he could to become a despot but the checks and balances mostly worked.

Unfortunately for you scruffy, I watched the entire episode on TV with my own eyes. I saw what was happening. Spin it up your ass until it feels comfy but I know what I saw. I was watching a puch...live and in person.

What did you think about the part where capitol police fired "non deadly" weapons into innocent protesters who were simply standing there and not causing any problems? How about the part where capitol police opened the electronically sealed doors and escorted people inside? How about the fbi informants in the croed that Wray refuses to elaborate on? What does a special Ed final look like? Genuine question. Is it the same curriculum as other students with some differences/longer time to test or is it totally different from the non special ed students?

Depends on the accommodations in their IEP.

My students take the same test as general ed students.

Sometimes I feel like I should post my daily schedule for these dipshits. Right now I sat down and looked on here during a 5 minute window between breakfast duty and going to teach a Language Arts lesson to 5th graders.

The level of hatred some on this board have for teachers is bizarre.

Normally, I’m teaching my first academic at this time. Instead, I’m proctoring a final exam for language arts.

I wonder what Here_A_Day (or a million) does for work.

Well that could be. I'm mostly thinking about how he would make comments about going after Hillary to get his base going but never really did.

In any case, I think IF he were defeated, there would be narratives floated by the usual sources that the new nominee will be even worse...
