The talent on next years team will be a little ridiculous. Especially if some of the young corners develop into contributors. I believe Ojemudia will be over taken next year by Brents. I just don’t see the raw cover skills in OJ and Brents made some pretty impressive tackles in open space and was physical in run support.
Riley Moss playing this early was certainly a surprise. You have to wonder if Turner is battling some kind of injury. Both Turner and Creamer were highly rated recruits and had a year advantage on Moss. Personally, I think this is more of an indication of Moss’ skills rather than an indictment of Turner and Creamer.
Dline, although losing some very skilled and technical players, will actually be larger with the additions of second year linderbaum, Shannon, and Nixon. Lattimore and Reiff are two terrific players and should help lead a young but talented interior. D end play will be scary good with Nelson, Eppy, and Gholson back. Mix in Simon and Waggoner and you have a lot of potential game breakers at that position.
Linebackers, as mentioned above, will have two to three options at every position with young talent backing up experienced players.
Safety will have two great tacklers in stone and hooker plus the highly touted Dallas Craddieth. Also, Castro a 2019 recruit who can really bring the boom.
The defense should be poised to match or surpass the stellar 2017 and 2018 defenses.
I believe Fant is gone, if you’re going to be the number 1 tightend in the draft, you are solely relying on team needs to determine your draft position. He may never be a true tightend, but I don’t believe the NFL will ask him to be I.e. Ebron, Funchass, Ingram, Njoku. Hopefully Miamen and Beyer can be our secondary receiving threat with Fant gone. Hell, I’d rather lose Fant than Hockensen, who fits our scheme far better and is more reliable in clutch moments.
Receivers will be talented and experienced. But man could we use one more big body to spell Brandon Smith. Ism will be great, hopefully Tracey develops and becomes a threat and perhaps cooper or ragiani can take over Easely’s role.
Oline should be dominate. While we lose two senior interior lineman, that has not appeared to slow down our effectiveness this year after losing Daniels and Welch. The Paulsen brothers plus Duwa, Banwart and maybe Jenkins should round out an above average interior line. While Kallenberger may end up starting at guard next year, he is so valuable as a back up tackle if one of our guys gets hurt. If Alaric and Tristan stay healthy I imagine both will leave early. Both have the size and the athleticism to compete at the next level. I believe we have graded out as the best pass blocking unit in the big ten, and that is with two Sophomore tackles. Imagine them with another year of experience and a pay day on their minds.
Stanley has added a demention of scrambling and has been great this year despite what the critics tell you. I believe he has missed 3 or 4 throws and has been money in key situations. The guy will end up being a late first round, early second draft pick. He is the prototypical big armed QB.
Running backs will be fantastic and we add Goodson who should give us even more pop.
The depth at every level of this team is better than this year, except for maybe safety. And our 4 best recruiting classes in a decade will all be on the field together.
Only problem is, we get Wiscy and Michigan on the road.
