President Trump said he would impose a 25% duty on imports of cars as of Apr. 2 and 25% duties on semiconductors and pharmaceuticals at a future date. Trump threatened the 25% duty was only the starting point.
He also said set a Mar. 12 start date for 25% tariffs on all imported steel and aluminum while eliminating all exemptions for Canada, Mexico, the European Union and other trading partners. New tariffs would apply to hundreds of imported downstream products made of steel and aluminum.
