New Story Iowa 71, Kansas 58: Defense Locks in at Pentagon

Kansas had small posts but that's not unusual. Iowa went to the NCAA finals with a 6'2" post last year. OK, we also had the GOAT playing at point guard. So far Iowa has been playing face up defense

The frosh aren't afraid to mix it up. I haven't watched Iowa games in person, but it appears Kylie is deceiving. Her length, small frame and quickness make her an almost spontaneous threat.

A sort of now-you-don't--see--her-now-you-do threat.

What did Iowa do scheme wise that helped the OL out at all under Brian?
Depends which season/game you are talking about. But overall, I don't have the necessary inside information to answer that question very well.

What I can tell you is the offense was never broken until the O-line was broken.

Things started to surface in the 2nd half of the '21 season for the O-line. It was compounded by an RB that decided to save his hits for the NFL, rather than fight for the tough yards, but that's another story.

Then in '22 the O-line was completely raw, underdeveloped in every way, and broken. This was compounded by an immobile QB, but the offense was broken regardless.

'23 showed some improvement from the O-line, as they had more strength and experience under their belt. And to at least somewhat answer your question, Iowa adjusted to much more pin-and-pull blocking scheme, which I would assume BF had a hand in. But mostly due to an emergency QB having to play most of the season, the offense was not able to take off.

This season the O-line is a semi-finalist for the Joe Moore award, and Iowa's offense has drastically improved. Again, from my under informed position, it seems that Lester has brought some helpful scheme. But KF, and guys like myself said even before Lester that the O-line and offense would be significantly better this season. Why wouldn't it be?

There is no point in blaming BF for anything, as that ultimately fell on KF, and to credit TL is also to credit KF

Is unconscious sex without consent rape?

I think many are missing the point, here. He was stating that according to state law, the scenario is not rape. So these women were all incorrect on the law.

The issue is that rather than use this story to point out how poorly written the law is, he used it to laugh at the women who ignored the law and claimed it was rape. He found this "bemusing." Which is a pretty vile attitude.
Military has had issues with sexual assault/rape. It’s zero tolerance now correct. Not a good look for the DOD head to have this history of pointing out technicalities and paying off sexual assault claims.

Pretty hard to be good up front when you’re very tendency heavy based on down and distance and formation. OL can be better but it’s not on them.
Agree. The OL has been bad, but it's just as much about the most predictable offensive playcalling in the country. You can have the best OL talent in the world, but 3 OL and a TE on one side of your line will never be able to block 8 guys who know exactly where the play is going.

Nole Friends, I’m Doing the Unforgivable

I’m pulling for Florida this weekend.

I’m telling you this out of respect and a desire to be transparent.

I’ve long loathed the Gators and their fans, going back to our bowl games against them early on in KF’s tenure. They are the worst, and I would be OK if the Gators were nuked from existence.

But the last couple CFB seasons has shown me that being an insufferable fan is not unique to Florida, but to the lion’s share of SEC fans. Not just about their team, which is to be expected…but also about the entire conference. It is bizarre, incestuous behavior the way they flock to social media to white knight for a rival, or someone who beat them.

I wish for only bad things to happen to that league, and Florida beating Ole Miss would be incredible. Rebel fans have been shit-talking Indiana and seeing them pick up a third loss would be *chef’s kiss*.

This will be a very temporary thing, as soon as the Gators can’t do anything for me, they’re back on the shitlist. But please Florida, make this thing happen.
Wondering why I haven't put you on "Ignore" yet.

Did the Bee finally post something funny?

The Bee posts a lot of things that are very funny. The problem is, it's usually only about the first line or paragraph that's funny, and their bits become tedious at a parabolic rate. They'd be much better doing Henny Youngman-style standup with a series of disjointed one-liners than they do as a "parody newspaper".
This. Generally speaking, the headlines will suffice.

kinda cool....brushes with greatness

Talked briefly with Jennifer Garner way back in the day. Her friends’ pool cabana was next to ours at the Hard Rock in Vegas. Friendly. Impressive group there.

Hung out for a few drinks with Ernie Els, Ian Poulter, and Ian Woosnam at a bar in STL. As a golf dork, I was one of only a few people that recognized them. Good guys.

Woosnam’s caddie was there and someone asked him does anyone drink more on tour than Woosnam - his response “nobody that is still alive.”

Anyone get any birds today?

Me and the boys hammered the Mallards Tues and Weds. Got to show em what pulling flocks of 20-30 migrators at a time looks like. Headed out here soon, gonna freeze my nuts off but should be good.
I'm trying to sneak an afternoon hunt 😄 shoot straight. Where are you at (N/S) roughly, as far as starting to see migration? Central Iowa still seems dry but my buddy is up by the MN/IA border and has said the last 3 days have been a really nice push.
