Judge in Trump prosecutor’s divorce case cuts off DA Fani Willis lawyer during hearing: ‘Let me interrupt you’

Ajudge on Monday cut off a lawyer for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as he was arguing why his client should not be deposed in a divorce hearing involving special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom she hired to handle the Georgia election interference case against former President Donald Trump.

Willis, who is accused of having an affair with Wade, was originally scheduled for a deposition in the case on Tuesday, but Judge Henry Thompson delayed that ruling until after Wade himself is questioned later this month.

During a brief hearing at Cobb County Superior Court Monday, Willis’ lawyer, Cinque Axam, argued that his client shouldn’t be deposed because she is too busy with other legal matters including, most importantly, the election interference case involving former President Trump.

Willis "manages a staff of 360 plus lawyers and staff. She oversees … 20,000 open cases. She coordinates, on a monthly basis, at least 500 hundred or more cases," Axam told the judge. "Of course, the most recognizable issue is she’s dealing with the Fulton County election interference involving former President Trump.

Before Axam could go on, Judge Thompson cut him off, urging him to narrow his arguments to why Willis would lack "unique personal knowledge" in the Wade divorce case, given that she is implicated in the extramarital affair allegations.

"Let me interrupt you. Let me ask you just to focus on the part of the law that says the proposed opponent lacks unique personal knowledge of any matter that’s relevant. Are you saying that your client lacks unique personal knowledge that could not be discovered in some other way?" Thompson asked.

Axam replied that the case had been underway for more than two years, and the deposition order had only arrived in recent weeks.

"I think there are other means by which that information can be retrieved in the case," Axam said.

Willis was served with the subpoena to sit for a deposition in the divorce case the day that defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who represents former Trump campaign staffer and onetime White House aide Michael Roman, filed a motion alleging the romantic relationship between Willis and Wade.

Joycelyn Wade's attorney has filed court documents showing Wade bought plane tickets in Willis' name, arguing there "appears to be no reasonable explanation for their travels apart from a romantic relationship."

The affair allegations have roiled the election interference case, which charges Trump and 18 allies of working to overturn his 2020 election loss in the state. Trump and others have seized on the allegations to attack the case and Wade's qualifications as a prosecutor. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and called the charges politically motivated.

A lawyer for Joycelyn Wade wrote in court papers filed Friday that Nathan Wade has taken trips to San Francisco and Napa Valley, Florida, Belize, Panama and Australia and has taken Caribbean cruises since filing for divorce and that Willis "was an intended travel partner for at least some of these trips as indicated by flights he purchased for her to accompany him."

The filing includes credit card statements that show Nathan Wade — after he had been hired as special prosecutor — bought plane tickets in October 2022 for him and Willis to travel to Miami and bought tickets in April to San Francisco in their names.

“CENTCOM Status Update on Missing U.S. Navy Seals

We regret to announce that after a 10-day exhaustive search, our two missing U.S. Navy SEALs have not been located and their status has been changed to deceased. The search and rescue operation for the two Navy SEALs reported missing during the boarding of an illicit dhow carrying Iranian advanced conventional weapons Jan. 11 concluded and we are now conducting recovery operations.

During this expansive search operation, airborne and naval platforms from the U.S., Japan, and Spain continuously searched more than 21,000 square miles to locate our missing teammates. Search assistance was also provided by Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center, the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area Command, University of San Diego – Scripts Institute of Oceanography, and the Office of Naval Research – Oceanographic Support. Out of respect for the families, no further information will be released at this time.

“We mourn the loss of our two Naval Special Warfare warriors, and we will forever honor their sacrifice and example. Our prayers are with the SEALs’ families, friends, the U.S. Navy, and the entire Special Operations community during this time,” said General Michael Erik Kurilla, USCENTCOM Commander.”

Brennan Marion

I just have a couple questions regarding his hype in all of this. Ok, so I read the comments about him and some of our players on social media. I’m way out of the loop when it comes to Facebook, twitter , etc. Is that something that is common? I mean players from one school communicating with a coach from another school? Also, did Marion or the players initiate the contact? Seems kinda weird to me. I’m all for him as a hire, but that would be Kirk going way out of the box, as far as offensive schemes go. And, if Kirk really had total control of the offense, I have to believe Marion would say say “No thank you.”

Hannity Decides Stock Market Isn’t Important After Years Of Blowing Glorious Leader Over Stock Prices

Media Matters reports:

The S&P 500 hit a record high on January 19, further reflecting a booming economy after some pundits had worried that it would fall into a recession.
After repeatedly praising former President Donald Trump for stock market records, Fox News host Sean Hannity now dismisses stock prices as inconsequential for most Americans, cautioning that “this thing can come tumbling down just as quickly as it went up.”
“Now, stocks did hit an all-time high. What did we learn last week? Is that the stock market impacts 8% of Americans. It does not impact the other 92%. It’s one of the main reasons I’ve never used it as any kind of real barometer in terms of the health of our economy.”

Is Kirk waiting for Harbaugh leaving to get Moore; kirk loves tuesday pressers so maybe tomorrow

There are just a whole lot of coaching dominos falling. Someone posted a whole bunch of OC positions that have changed and some are still open.

Is it tampering for the Athl Dept to have a 3rd party contact Mich OC Moore's agent? Or for Kirk's agent to contact a coach's agent who is still employed?

Now Harbaugh should not be able to squawk about tampering!!!!

It would be great to get a hire this week but the fact that no media is really high on a specific coach to me means Kirk isnt close.

Shoutout to Perk and Dembele Today

Both played their azzes off hustling today. Really thought the effort and intensity was great all the way around, but those two stood out to me.

Was at the game today and this is the first time I really noticed Dembele is pretty damn thick in the legs. He was not afraid to bang down low with Edey and hustled his azz off. Really too bad he got hurt and I hope he’s doing ok - for him and the team. Edey is a goddam giant and it was a war zone every possession. I thought Edey got away with murder and camped in the lane forever (almost every possession).

Perkins was harassed (and fouled) all game long by #55, but he handled it well and kept the offensive and defensive intensity high all game. He started running out of gas toward the end - who wouldn’t - but he left it ALL on the court today.

Fortunately, Clark was not seriously hurt, telling reporters that she only got the wind knocked out of her. She also noted that Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith already come and apologized to her personally.

"It's kind of scary. It could have caused a pretty scary injury to me. It knocked the wind out of me," Clark said after the game. "(Smith) already came and apologized to me, so I appreciate that. This is what comes with the territory. I'm sure they did their best to do whatever they could. Obviously, it didn't work, and that's disappointing."
