Republican Civil War

This article is something that I have been saying would occur for the last 4 years. The issue you have is such a large contingent of republicans and the population that are 100% behind Trump. However the brand will never appeal to large mass group and will always tend to shy away from the moderates. Thus just like the election 4 years ago, and the midterms 2 years ago, Republicans will likely underperform again. However to get Trump out of the party will be extremely costly, because we know he will not go quietly.

Iowa wrestling dominates Soldier Salute event

Between travel, the holiday, the Music City Bowl, and a few other Iowa sports things, the Soldier Salute event kind of slipped thru the cracks on me.

Not that there was a lot of drama to it -- both the men and women dominated some pretty weak fields.

The men had finalists in 7 weights (all but 125, 141, and 157) and crowned champs at all 7 weights.

There were all-Iowa finals at 133 and 184. Drake Ayala beat Kale Petersen 20-5 at 133, while Angelo Ferrari won via medical forfeit over Gabe Arnold at 184. Shame we weren't able to see Ferrari and Arnold go at it.

FINALS RESULTS
133 – #4 Drake Ayala (Iowa) tech. fall Kale Petersen (Iowa), 20-5
149 – #4 Kyle Parco (Iowa) dec. #6 Lachlan McNeil (UNC), 8-5
165 – #2 Michael Caliendo (Iowa) vs. #9 Andrew Sparks (Minnesota), 7-6
174 – Patrick Kennedy (Iowa) dec. #18 Danny Wask (Navy), 6-2
184 – Angelo Ferrari (Iowa) MFF #6 Gabe Arnold (Iowa)
197 – #2 Stephen Buchanan (Iowa) major dec. Aeoden Sinclair (Missouri), 15-4
285 – #12 Ben Kueter (Iowa) dec. Bennett Tabor (Minnesota), 1-0

National rankings is SEC bias

These national rankings give SEC teams every excuse to be as high as possible and if a team in another conference has an embarrassing loss they get sent way back to the end of the line.

They ignore the fact that the SEC has lost plenty of non conference games or bowl games and has been exposed.

9 teams on the top 25. OK maybe they deserve it? Idk
And come December will they want like 6 SEC teams in the 12 team playoff? Atleast 5 will push for 7

I watch their games and I see humanity, not superiority

College football is rigged just like politics

What a bummer of a season

It seems Iowa can never live up to what people expect but when they don’t expect big things is when they shine. Next year I am sure they will be rated to finish in the lower half of the BIG abut this is where I like it, low expectations no pressure, then Iowa seems to shine and play great football. Will see what happens as it’s a long way off but they have the pieces to be a pretty good team and maybe a sneaky team. They need better athletes in the defense backfield and more explosive wise receivers, however I really like the RB room as well. If they can get better pass protection on the line I think they will be alright.

It sure sucks they lost in the way they did but they’ve been doing it all year long. If you were to tell me they would finish 8-5 last year I would of said you’re nuts as most had us at 11-2 or 10-3 but they’ve been doing weren’t that close. Let’s hope for some more better play and better luck next year as I think we have the pieces to be a pretty good team. Still a season that “could of been” but shit happens…

Anyone on HBOT ever owned a greyhound?

My son has a retired racing dog, and it's a fascinating animal. He's visiting with it for Christmas. Very quiet and mild mannered dog. We had deer in the backyard this morning and it seemed to think they were bigger greyhounds, watching them from a window and wagging its tail. In its racing life it never dealt with stairs, so despite training it struggles, and generally avoids them. 1-2 stairs is the most it will climb. So, it either has to go around them, or be carried up them.

If KF is truly coaching to win games

1. Then why pass in obvious run situations when the run game is working?
2. Either go for it from the 40 or take a shot at a 57 yard FG with a kicker who has the leg?
3. Why not put pressure on a QB who is carving up our defense?
4. Why not have our most dynamic player on scholarship?
5. Challenge an obviously poor spot that gives us a critical first down?
6. Why put all the pressure on a QB who is obviously not ready to win games for us?

Without doing any research, what's your recollection and assessment of the Y2K scare leading up to the new millennium?

For those who are too young or may have forgotten, the Y2K scare refers to the concern that millions of computers and other tech would encounter massive, possibly deadly problems when systems using 2-digit year coding (most of them) were confronted by the date 00. Algorithms making date-based decisions that require dividing by the year being among the most obvious looming problems.

The St. Louis Blues are not for everyone

The Blues are the only team in the NHL this season to hold their “Hockey is for Everyone” night during a watch party for a road game.

They have a “Star Wars Night” and “90s Night” but evidently they just couldn’t squeeze a celebration of diversity and inclusion into their 41-game home schedule.
