Trump again upheld as a sexual abuser

The federal appeals court today upheld the jury’s verdict finding Donald Trump sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll and denied his request for a new trial. What a shame. The upcoming US president (Trump, not Musk) is again judged guilty of sexual abuse and is labeled a sexual abuser. We all knew that, but our legal system again confirms it. Sad day for the USA.

To our resident Nebraska troll:

Yes, I am feeding him (@IowaNoRelevantWinsSince1960). Get over it.

Because our psych ward friend admires Iowa football so much, I thought we should return the favor and come up with our own list of usernames to dote similar affection on Nebraska. Feel free to add your own, roll your eyes, skip over the thread entirely, or leave some snarky comment. Whatever tickles your pickle.

Anyway, I will get the party started.

Regardless of todays game and the score

If this is a preview of next years team I really like Sullivan as the the QB, he’s showed so much poise and speed and creativity especially on that wicked ass run he almost scored… Petras would of been sacked at the 50 on that play. He’s a rare player with a good arm and great scrambling ability plus he’s got that “make you miss” attitude…. Very proud of the way he’s playing and with most of our line coming back next year and our RB’s… I am liking the preview of 2025.

As for defense we need more speed on the edges and we will reload the backfield … not saying it’s going to be a banner year but much “brighter” than most expect and that’s including me. Now let’s beat these assholes today and get KF that W today.

Bowl Opponents…

We’ve already talked about the underwhelming match up with Mizzou, but it seems like Iowa St seems to get more interesting matchups lately.

Just within recent years they have matched up with Miami, Notre Dame, and Oregon.

We seem to get Mizzou, Kentucky x2, and Boston College 🤢. Just not great from a name brand standpoint. I get some folks want to play games we can win but the matchups lately have been meh….

Ps. I forgot somehow about Tennessee taking us to the woodshed

Yanda a semifinalist for NFL HOF

Per his hometown paper (Journal-Eureka) and hometown sports editor (Schepanski): https://www.journal-eureka.com/nfl-football-yanda-named-hall-fame-semifinalist

Yanda joins a list of six first-year eligible Hall of Fame semifinalists with quarterback Eli Manning, linebacker Luke Kuechly, pass rusher Terrell Suggs, safety Earl Thomas and kicker Adam Vinatieri. Those six join offensive lineman Richmond Webb as players to reach the semifinalist stage for the first time.
Goes on to mention the other semifinalists:
The overall list of 2025 modern-era candidates for the Hall of Fame included 18 players who have been semifinalists before: Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Willie Anderson, Anquan Boldin, Jahri Evans, Antonio Gates, James Harrison, Rodney Harrison, Torry Holt, Robert Mathis, Steve Smith Jr., Fred Taylor, Hines Ward, Ricky Watters, Reggie Wayne, Vince Wilfork, Steve Wisniewski and Darren Woodson.

The 25 semifinalists get narrowed to 15 finalists, with then 5 additional finalists from the "seniors, coaches, and contributors" (SCC) category. The HOF then selects 4-8 inductees from the 20 overall finalists. Given the above list, what do y'all think the chances are he makes it year one?

I think that Manning, Kuechly, and Vinatieri are locks this year, leaving 1-5 openings and I don't know who in the SCC category are being considered. Seems like a long shot this year? Especially with names like Wayne, Wilfork, Harrison^2, Gates, Ward, Smith Jr., and Suggs being considered too.

Trump endorses Mike Johnson for reelection as House speaker ahead of perilous vote

President-elect Donald Trump gave House Republican lawmakers a directive on Monday, days before what is expected to become an embattled speakership fight: Support Mike Johnson’s reelection.
In a lengthy post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump argued that Republicans should “NOT BLOW THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY WHICH WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN” by voters to immediately govern, which would require Johnson (R-Louisiana) to be swiftly reelected as House speaker to wield the gavel on Friday.

“Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement,” Trump wrote.

House Republicans have said for weeks that Trump would have the final say on whether Johnson keeps the gavel or is replaced. His endorsement is significant as it signals to House Republicans to stay in line and back Johnson, who began losing support from several corners of the GOP conference during negotiations on how to fund the government earlier this month.

It also blunts significant efforts by some in the far-right House Freedom Caucus, which was mulling trying to replace Johnson with another Republican leader or demanding concessions for their support.

Johnson needs the support of 218 lawmakers to be reelected speaker. That support must come from his Republican conference, given that Democrats will back Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-New York) for the role.
Starting the year with just a 219-seat majority — following the resignation last month of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) — Johnson can lose support from only one Republican to win the speakership. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) has already pledged to vote against him, meaning that Johnson must win over all remaining Republicans.
