HMB- t-shirts and shorts

I’ll admit, I’m kind of a geek for college marching bands. Found it interesting that the HMB wore shorts and t-shirts for one of their very few performances of the year. I’ve perused a bunch of other marching band videos from 8/31 and haven’t seen ANY other band doing such. I know I’ll get ripped here, but I don’t understand why they don’t try to put their best foot forward.

Injury Report for Iowa State (them, not us)

I had heard that their top linebacker might be out and that they were thin at linebacker to start with. if that is true, we should be able to take advantage of it, although I am still not convinced our offense is "fixed." (just got to consider level of competition last weekend)

also, supposedly Sama, their top back, I think, might be dinged.

does anybody have any further info?

RFK Jr. rips Harris, says president should be able to ‘put together’ sentence in English which she can't do.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. slammed Vice President Harris’s candidacy Tuesday, saying she is not “a worthy president” while defending his choice to instead endorse former President Trump.

“I don’t think that Vice President Harris is a worthy president of this country,” Kennedy told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo. “I think we need to have a president who can give an interview, who can articulate a vision, who can put together an English sentence, who can articulate her and defend her policies and her record and who can engage in a debate with, and regular debates unscripted appearances, president or vice president.”

Harris has recently faced criticism over her lack of media appearances since replacing President Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket, with some arguing she has not clearly laid out her policy visions. She sat alongside her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) for her first major sit-down interview last week with CNN’s Dana Bash, during which she experienced no major gaffes and made no major news.

Kennedy announced last month he would suspend his campaign in the battleground states and put his support behind Trump. In doing so, he ripped the Democratic Party and the media for what he claimed was an unfair treatment of his independent campaign.

“Well, it became clear to me, Chris, that I was not going to be allowed on the debating stage, which was really my only path to victory. I was already being boycotted by all of the mainstream media, by the liberal media,” Kennedy said Tuesday on NewsNation’s “Cuomo.”

His name, however, is likely to remain on the ballot in some key states, with officials stating voters will see him appear as a candidate in Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina this November.

“What the irony is, Chris, we have been trying to get on the ballot in every state, and we succeeded now in doing that. And now we’re taking ourselves off in the states where we would harm President Trump,” Kennedy said in the interview.

“The Democrat Party, which was suing us to keep us off the ballot in those states, is now suing us to force us to be on the ballot,” he continued. “I mean, it’s, if we’re talking about principles here, you know, I think that we ought to, I ought to be able to be on the ballots where I want to be on and not be on the ballot where I don’t want to be on.”

The recent partnership between Kennedy and Trump has further stoked speculation he could be offered a position within a second Trump administration should he win in November. He appeared with the GOP nominee at an Arizona rally last month, and he later revealed he was asked to join the former president’s transition team.

When asked why he believes Trump will give him a position and what that might be, Kennedy said, “I’m not … we’re not talking about a particular position for me in the government.”

“What our agreement [is] about, it’s about a unity party, about unifying our party over certain objectives,” he added. “And this will allow me to continue to disagree with President Trump on issues that I don’t agree with him on, and him to disagree with me.”

The Hill reached out to the Harris campaign for further comment.

Should we start deleting (some) political posts?

While I like to keep speech rather free on a message board, I do think it needs to maintain a certain level of quality or the entire message board itself becomes compromised.

We have a problem with low quality (often unverified or later verified as false) political retweets from Twitter/X.

The big problem is that there are simply too many of them. It's a volume thing. Besides that, it's the quality of the discussion it leads to.

Re-posting some random jackass spouting off about whatever -- again, often completely unverified or quickly verified as false -- isn't quality discussion. It's borderline spam.

I say we start culling the heard. The board doesn't need to be filled with these. They need to be sporadic.

Attention Kamala - Ex-MLB star rips San Francisco after NFL player shot in attempted robbery: 'Absolute hell hole'

Former MLB star Mark Mulder ripped the city of San Francisco on Saturday after 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was wounded in a shooting during a robbery attempt.

The shooting occurred in the Union Square area of the city. Pearsall was reportedly shot by a 17-year-old who tried stealing his Rolex. Pearsall was shot in the chest, but the bullet exited his body without hitting any vital organs, according to his mother, Erin.

"What an absolute hell hole of a city!" he wrote on X. "The mentally ill Libs will still tell you how beautiful it is all while they get mugged and step in s---."

Mulder played nine years in the majors between the Oakland Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an All-Star in 2003 and 2004 and finished runner-up for the American League Cy Young Award in 2001.

He’s been far from the athletes who have criticized the city over the last 12 months.

Charles Barkley blasted the city during the NBA All-Star Game.

Former San Francisco Giants star Buster Posey also suggested that crime and drugs were a turnoff to impending free agents.

Pearsall was released from the hospital on Sunday. The 23-year-old had been walking alone shortly after 3:30 p.m. local time when a suspect tried to rob him with a gun in the Union Square area, according to officials. San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott said that more than one shot was fired.

"A struggle between Mr. Pearsall and the suspect ensued, and gunfire from the suspect’s gun struck both Mr. Pearsall and the subject."

The gun allegedly belonged to the suspect and was recovered. Scott said investigators believe the teen acted alone, adding that there was no indication that Pearsall had been targeted because he’s a football player.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed said at a news conference later Saturday. "This was a terrible and rare incident in Union Square, and our thoughts are with Ricky Pearsall and his family. He has a bright future, and I look forward to seeing him recover and get back on the field."

Pearsall was drafted by the 49ers in the first round in April. He missed time during training camp with a few nagging injuries.
