No, we're not going to forget

Accountability, not amnesty is what is needed. We had multiple people right here on HROT backing (some probably still do) this ridiculous bs. You know who you are and yes you should be ashamed of yourselves.

"The problem was not people's ignorance of the facts, it was the organized antagonism and censorship against anyone presenting data that was contradictory to the mandate agenda. This is setting aside proclamations like those from the LA Times, which argued that mocking the deaths of "anti-vaxxers" might be necessary and justified. After two years of this type of arrogant nonsense it's hard to imagine people will be willing to pretend as if all is well.

The active effort to shut down any opposing data is the root crime, though, and no, it can never be forgotten or forgiven."

"One cannot help but notice that the timing of the Atlantic's appeal for passive forgetfulness coincides with the swiftly approaching midterm elections, in which polls suggest a much greater chance of a conservative upset than Democrats previously expected. Though the Atlantic doesn't admit it, there is a growing political backlash to the last two years of meaningless lockdowns and mandates, and Democrats were instrumental in the implementation of both. A large swath of the population sees one party as the cause of much of their covid era strife.

Perhaps the mainstream media is suddenly realizing that they may have to face some payback for their covid zealotry? “We didn't know! We were just following orders!” It all sounds rather familiar."

Woman celebrates Christmas nabbing winning lottery ticket in gift exchange

why am I never this lucky...

(Gray News) – A woman in Indiana won the top prize of $500,000 on a scratch-off ticket from the Michigan lottery she ended up with during a white elephant gift exchange on Christmas.

Emily Hickox, who was also celebrating her 25th birthday the same day, said her dad initially won the Detroit Lions instant game ticket during the gift exchange and she had won the flashlight he brought as a gift.

Hickox said her dad wanted the flashlight back, so they made an agreement after the game to trade gifts.

Expecting to see $50,000, Emily Hickox said she was speechless when she saw the extra zero.

“I scratched the ticket off on Christmas, which also happens to be my birthday, and thought I won $50,000,” Hickox told officials with the Michigan Lottery.

She downloaded the app and checked her ticket on the scanner.

Expecting to see $50,000, Hickox said she was speechless when she saw the extra zero.

“I couldn’t comprehend that I’d just won $500,000,” she said.

“Winning a prize of $500,000 is a thrill in itself, combined with the excitement of winning on Christmas, and your birthday, from a ticket you received as a gift makes it even more incredible,” Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli said in a statement.

According to lottery officials, Hickox plans to buy a new car, invest and share some of her winnings with her cousin who purchased the ticket, and her parents.

Bowl Opponents…

We’ve already talked about the underwhelming match up with Mizzou, but it seems like Iowa St seems to get more interesting matchups lately.

Just within recent years they have matched up with Miami, Notre Dame, and Oregon.

We seem to get Mizzou, Kentucky x2, and Boston College 🤢. Just not great from a name brand standpoint. I get some folks want to play games we can win but the matchups lately have been meh….

Ps. I forgot somehow about Tennessee taking us to the woodshed

Recruiting Players: 8 Years of Rankings (2 Years Prior to Clark, The 4 Clark Years & 2 Years After Clark)

The purpose of this exercise is 3 fold:
1) Had a problem properly evaluating player rankings from one site to another. It was frustrating trying to get a good handle on some players. Ex: Teagan Mallegni was rated 29 on one site and not rated on another site of 150 players. Makes you scratch your head. I decided to figure the avg between all sites for a composite ranking for each player and then sort on the composite ranking for best rated players on a team.
2) Wanted to see how the Clark effect played out for Bluder/Jan. Hence, why I needed to create the composite ranking to compare one season to the next.
3) Wanted to see if you could get an inkling of where the team might end up in the NCAA tournament based on the teams avg player ranking or if there was another metric that could be used as a gauge on how good a team is projected to be. Most likely impossible, but it's nice to see the progress these coaches have made recently.

NOTE: Updated rankings as of 1/21/25.

There will be 8 additional postings (1 for each year). Easier to manage updates.
The first season will be Megan Gustafson's last season of ''18-'19.

Each grid contains the following columns:
Player Team Rank, Name, 8 Ranking Sites (1 col ea), MISC, LOW, Avg Rank

8 Ranking Sites Column Abbr:
ASGR = ASGR Basketball
PN = Prospect Nation
JRAS = Jr All Star
ESPN
TSB = Top Spot Basketball
247S = 247 Sports
BSBB = Blue Star Basketball
ON3 = On3

MISC = A special ranking column created to handle special cases. This acts like a 9th ranking site for the Avg Ranking column.
1) A player that's NOT ranked on any of the sites. BSBB was used because it had the most ranked players and it went back to 2015.
2) Players rated higher than their current ranking. This happens a lot to injured players when they were rated higher and then after the injury their ranking went down to non-playing time.

LOW = Lowest ranking from all 9 possible rankings (including MISC column).

This is NOT a perfect system. However, it's the best way I could figure out how to compare a team against other teams and their NCAA tournament results based on their Avg Player Ranking or the # of players w/ESPN rankings.

The year prior to Clark's Frosh year is the worst ranked team of all 8 seasons.

Also, wanted to see if the Clark Effect uped our recruiting efforts and by how much if any.

There's definitely MAJOR progress in rankings and depth since Clark came on board.

Bluder gradually started washing out all the over Top 100 recruits into Top 100 and under we have now. On average, there's an increase of almost 100 positions per player since CCs 1st year. The avg rank went from 166.58 down to 67.13.

It will be interesting to see if Jan can keep this momentum going and add even higher ranked recruits in the future.
The next 4 seasons will most likely be pivotal in whether we retain a whole team of Top 100 recruits or regress into the past.

I'm open to suggestions to make the rankings better or more fair.

This Year's Summary:
There has been ~ a correlation between the number of Top 100 ESPN players and how you did in NCAA Tournament with Lisa as HC.
However, this year will likely break that trend unless we have a couple more players have breakout years besides our expected top players.
Ava Heiden and Teagan Mallegni are 2 of the top 3 highest rated on this year's team and they could be the two additional stars needed now to help ascend the women's future even higher.

Past, Present and Future Summary Results:
'18-'19 - 6 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 172.85 (Elite 8 - w/Gustafson)
‘19-‘20 - 4 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 182.50 (Round of 32 - Pre-Caitlin)
‘20-‘21 - 2 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 166.58 (Round of 32 - w/Clark)
‘21-‘22 - 5 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 126.28 (Sweet 16 - w/Clark)
‘22-‘23 - 8 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 122.06 (Natty game - w/Clark)
‘23-'24 - 8 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 111.61 (Natty game - w/Clark)
‘24-'25 - 10 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 77.66 (? - Post-Caitlin)
‘25-'26 - 11 ESPN Top 100 and an Average Composite Ranking of 67.13 (? - Post-Caitlin)

You can change the year within the URL link to view different years for that site except for #5 which is Top Spot Basketball. Couldn't find a website page listing for them as it seems it only comes from screenshot images.
Class of 2025 Rankings:

Notes:
ASGR 1st year of rankings came out in 2024.
JRAS 1st year of rankings came out in 2021.
TSB since it's screenshot images and not a searchable website, it's hard to tell the 1st for it. Only found year 2025.
247S 1st year of rankings came out in 2024.
ON3 1st year of rankings came out in 2025.
The other 3 ranking sties were in existence from at least the '18-'19 season (1st year of this exercise) or before it.

EDIT (1/21/25):
Later after compiling this list I found a backdoor to a full list of the top 400 on BSBB.
All years have been updated with the latest rankings now.
Here is the first year (2015) used in this exercise. Change the YearOfGraduation=YYYY to the year desired.

Since the Inception of the AP Poll in 1936, the Big Ten has Repeated as AP NC Exactly Twice

With the last time in ‘42 when OSU succeeded Minnesota as champs after the Goophs’ repeat NC in ‘41.

Over the same period of time, the SEC has done it 13 times. Ouch.

I’m considering conference affiliation at the time of championship, btw. So for example, I don’t consider any Penn State or USC NCs to be Big Ten, nor do I consider any Texas or OU to be SEC.

Time to start closing that gap Monday night.
