“I’ve lived in Minneapolis my entire life. I’m leaving Friday. I no longer recognize my hometown.”

You can’t count. 5 officers died, but Blue Live Matter, right.
Whaaaa?

One officer died. He, Brian Sicknick died unfortunately from natural causes as did two others. The only homicide was Babbit. Another person died from an OD.

Also, Sicknick was NOT killed from blows with a fire extinguisher despite what every MSM outlet reported.

Describe how your iron fisted, boot on the back of the neck strategy would make things super safe.
Explain to me New York from the '70s compared to New York of today and tell me how we got there?

Tell me who was pushing/supporting the crime bill of the '90s?

I'm not saying it's the only way, but neither is la la Land social workers on every corner.

Sorry, I got jumpy. 5 people died. Multiple officers injured. One officer died from a stroke which could be the result of a fire extinguisher to the head.
Point is it was”25 rednecks walking around.”

I hope more productive people move. then, but only then, will the left realize their patty-cake strategy in inner cities isn’t working... this is insanity.

That isn't the end game. It will bleed elsewhere.

Oh well, the population has been shifting forever. Maybe this is exactly what the left-behind rural areas need.

I've noticed a gradual shift just in the area we live in - escaping the concrete and realizing they can have all of the open air they desire and still be a reasonable drive from the metro.

Lol. It is crazy how avoid-y so many of you are.
If the woman doesn't feel safe in her neighborhood and the people she helped elect have no plan or desire to improve things, she would be a fool to stay.

I got halfway through this dystopian free-for-all and stopped when i got to this point:
Any condemnation of the violence was denounced as “racist”

GTFO here with this hyperbole. This just makes anything else she rambles on about as nonsense. She has a future in fiction writing though

She's trying out for FOX, and it's probably working.

It wouldn't have gotten as bad as it has if the authorities, especially police and the leaders of the police union, didn't suck so much at their jobs.

That is complete and total BS and you know it. How did the cop who shot the girl trying to stab another "suck" at his job? How did the cop who killed Michael Brown in St.L "suck" at his job? What we have is a bunch of race bating anti American discontents trying to blame cops and racism on everything to gain political advantage. Morons like you simply can't see it so it appears to be working on the lower intellect in our society.

Find a community group of some kind that interests her and join it. Now I know community groups are frowned upon by a lot of repubs but they can help.
Community groups are great at stopping bullets, (what an idiot). How about we try the novel idea of locking up criminals and keeping them locked up?

And you are their total opposite, congrats on also being unreasonable.

More and more cops and good people will be leaving the large metros areas. The only ones that wont be are the ones that cant afford to and that's too bad. I fear, based on the rhetoric from our 'leaders' that none of this will change anytime soon.

If y'all wanna see Republicans elected in 2022 and 2024 just keep up the anti-law anti-order platform and there is gonna be an ass kicking coming at the ballot box like you haven't seen before. Mark my words. No one is going to give a rats ass about climate change if their communities aren't safe.

No way in hell Id live in the Twin Cities right now. Hell I don't even want to visit.
If I were to try to sell my house today I would receive multiple offers, all above asking.

The morons are the ones that kept re-electing this guy...

Loving this thread. So far my two favorite parts are all the MAGAs suddenly hanging on every word of a whiny snowflake college girl and the one poster saying entire cities are burning down but “In the mean time you clowns are still crying about THE CAPITOL INSURRECTION aka 25 rednecks getting into the capitol taking pictures, walking around being dumb”

Keep up the pearl clutching you lovable beta cucks!

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Minneapolis is my home. My happiest memories are here. It’s where I learned to ride a bike, had my first date, received my high school diploma.

But today, I’m too afraid to even walk in my neighborhood by myself.

The ACE Hardware down the street? The one that I used to bike to in the summer? Robbed twice in the past five days.

The Walgreens next to my elementary school? Molotov cocktail thrown into it.

The Lake Harriet Bandshell, where we spent countless Mother’s Days? Homeless encampment popped up next door.

These are the things you don’t read about in the news.

Ten minutes from my house, at 38th and Chicago, there is still an autonomous zone. Police are not allowed to enter. Residents have died because medical authorities couldn’t get through, and carjackers (of which there are MANY) will speed into the zone to escape officer pursuit.

continued at.....
She just up and decides to move in a couple of days???

Yeah, sure.

lol

You can have it. I live in the middle of nowheresville on a county road. 7 miles off of a state hiway. Perfectly happy nobody has found us. Our golf course kicks A$$ and the internet here (thank you forward-thinking telephone cooperative) is a fast as any Metro. Not wanting a shift here.

Is there a solution that she could help with? In theory?
The white girl (probably) from the Linden Hills neighborhood who (probably) went to a private high school who did go to an expensive private Liberal Arts college and whose research successfully led her to every negative talking point she could find for her article? No. Not even in theory.

Nah. Minneapolis is soon to become crime filled. Maybe not the suburbs with their own police forces but Minneapolis proper is soon to become south Chicago.
Soon? The 1990's were crime filled. We're a looong ways away from that.

I had never heard of Gustavus Adolphus College, it's a very pretty campus:

Gustavus Adolphus is a beautiful liberal arts school in St. Peter, I believe. My daughter visited the campus there before deciding to attend St. Olaf....but she really thought GA was very nice.
About 20 years ago, the campus was really damaged severely by a tornado. My daughter and several of her classmates spent a few weekends in St. Peter helping the GA students "clean up" the mess......St. Peter was originally designed and founded to be the capitol of Minnesota. Its downtown to this day features several extremely wide streets that were originally built to serve the capitol complex...The capitol building was to be built where the GA Administration building now stands at the peak of the hill that overlooks the city of St. Peter. I dont know the details but supposedly St. Paul cut a deal with the Legislature to have the capitol moved to St. Paul at the last minute.

I'm sure there are enough people who find her heroic for calling out that she can't be as racist as she'd like anymore.

You distinguish between rioters and protestors? Racist. You do not want Marxist-inspired racial justice theories to be promoted in schools? Racist. You thought that maybe “Justice for George Floyd” should be left to the courts, and not mob rule? Super, super racist.

Stay the F out of Iowa, we don't need anymore like her.
Maybe you can take her place. We don’t want people that divide and call everyone a racist as their only strategy in a conversation. Just because she doesn’t like to defund police and won’t accept crime in her neighborhood doesn’t mean she’s racist. It means she’s human. Step up stud and go make that place better. It’s time you libs start practicing what you preach.
