“I’ve lived in Minneapolis my entire life. I’m leaving Friday. I no longer recognize my hometown.”

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Minneapolis is my home. My happiest memories are here. It’s where I learned to ride a bike, had my first date, received my high school diploma.

But today, I’m too afraid to even walk in my neighborhood by myself.

The ACE Hardware down the street? The one that I used to bike to in the summer? Robbed twice in the past five days.

The Walgreens next to my elementary school? Molotov cocktail thrown into it.

The Lake Harriet Bandshell, where we spent countless Mother’s Days? Homeless encampment popped up next door.

These are the things you don’t read about in the news.

Ten minutes from my house, at 38th and Chicago, there is still an autonomous zone. Police are not allowed to enter. Residents have died because medical authorities couldn’t get through, and carjackers (of which there are MANY) will speed into the zone to escape officer pursuit.

I like how in her over the top demagoguery she said that billboards were being “brutally vandalized” bringing up imagery of being brutally raped and all the article she linked to for support showed this.

This poor sign has been BRUTALLY vandalized.

;)

Seems like there’s a lot of people ITT who are being willfully ignorant of how certain parts of the city have become terribly crime ridden. Car jackings and armed robberies are an hourly occurrence these days. This has hurt local businesses and coupled with the pandemic, they are hurting badly. Many of these small businesses were vulnerable to begin with.

My old neighborhood is mere shell of its former self.

List them.

Depends on where you lived at the time. Mid 90’s at Cedar & Riverside was quite interesting.
As was the Sibley neighborhood where I live. Anyone with an 'A' body GM car (Celebrity, 6000, Ciera, etc) that parked outside was probably broken into in an attempt to steal.

I don’t see how this is any different than a certain hate-filled lunatic on this board who claims he is going to move away from Iowa because there are too many Republicans.

Whiny because dipshits like you think it’s cool to burn down cities? In the mean time you clowns are still crying about THE CAPITOL INSURRECTION aka 25 rednecks getting into the capitol taking pictures, walking around being dumb. You have so little ground to stand on you can’t even formulate half arguments.

Uh, 25 rednecks? Must have been watching Fox News.

No, they didn't even cover it. This burning down cities shit comparing to attacking the attacking the U.S. Capitol is unreal. I don't see any burned down cities. I do see the 1st attack on our nation's capitol by a group of traitors.

Look up the definition of traitor. Sedition is war.

Attacking the us capitol? When did this happen? Turn off cnn and actually try to figure things out once for yourself. It must be hard for you, but it’s possible!

What did I just read? There was no attack on the U.S. Congress while in session? With the Vice President residing over the Senate, and the House Speaker residing over the House of Representatives. Three layers in the presidential line of cessation. Validating the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Over four hundred arrests made so far, expecting more that 500, including congressional conspirators. How's that for evidence of an attack.

Fruitcakes like you are dime a dozen, and your idiotic fantasies and lunacies won't make a shit difference.

Get to the point or stop stalking me.
Are you originally from Iowa? If so you've obviously been in Minnesota too long if you can't follow this line of questioning.

Someone stated Minneapolis was going to become crime-filled and just like South Chicago, you replied saying that was a ridiculous assessment and that the '90s actually were crime filled and that Minneapolis is a long ways from that today.

I am asking you how did we get "a long way" from the '90s crime-filled Minneapolis to today? What actions improved the crime statistics from the '90s to the 2020s?

Okay, so you don't know/understand how/why crime statistics in most major cities including Minneapolis improved from the 90s to the 2020s.

You're not alone in that ignorance.

You have an agenda. Quit being so disingenuous and make your point.
