I still maintain that the PK is the most under-appreciated player on the team.

I mean, Koehn could very well be the difference between 8-4 and 10-2. It is not rare that the PK is called upon the hit a FG to win the game with seconds left to play. Its the same type of pressure a basketball player faces to hit a high stakes game winning shot.... Jordan with a playoff basket at the buzzer. We all remember what Nate Kaeding meant to those early Ferentz teams.

Not to mention the value of touchbacks on KOs in the field position battle.

One of my all-time favorite Hawks. Had a decent NFL career also but he got kicked around among teams a little bit.

Wow, if you were doing a "Greatest by number" list, how could you decide between Devine and Locke? If the Heisman were around when those two had played, Iowa probably would've had more than just one winner.

And as far as kickers go, Murray and Schlicher certainly provided plenty of memorable moments in their time.

Btw, does Iowa still have that streak of consecutive PATs going? I knew it was a school record, but I thought I remembered hearing that they have the longest current streak in the country.
