It is not in any way a weird position to hold. It’s the norm. The weakest cases get dismissed. The next weakest will go to trial but will be found not guilty because of reasonable doubt. It may not be the case here. It could be other reasons that the case was dismissed. No doubt. But to assert that this is a weird position to hold is simply asinine.

Nothing vital, like our military, gets shut down during a shut down. Politicians make believe this so they can get whatever they want pushed through with a threatened shut down. When the shut down is over, all those government employees get their back pay, so it’s just an extra paid vacation for them. We could get by with a government much smaller.
Ignoring the fact that bills get paid monthly, still have to be paid, and too few have emergency savings.
Shutdowns create hardship for working poor government employees. There is undue stress, and there's no free vacation for them.
There are plenty of single parent female administrative assistants throughout government. And it is widely known by most that air travel will go to shit during a shutdown, because low pay TSA agents must take paying jobs rather than report for unpaid duty.
There's stress of finding a second job and the risk of being declared AWOL. There'll be neither free time nor discretionary income for vacation.
All this, and at the end they will get paid their backpay, thereby cheating all tax payers of services they might've otherwise received.
You know everyone in the private sector can get laid off or fired at any time for any reason. There is risk in all employment and business ownership, so why should government employees be any different. Politicians use the sad stories to push through legislation that could have a negative effect on many more citizens than just the government employees you speak of. There is no perfect utopia form of government .

Layoffs and firings are typically corporate right sizing and cost cutting measures. A shutdown is the antithesis of cost savings. No right sizing is going on.
When firings or layoffs occur, one may both receive a severance package and file for unemployment. Furthermore, no employee is obligated to perform unpaid (pay deferred) work. They are free to seek new employment. In contrast, government employees during a shutdown can do none of these. One cannot resign their position and be eligible for unemployment. One cannot even retire during a shutdown and begin collecting their pension.
In summary, your response is both inaccurate and irrelevant. I conclude you don't know much, if anything, about the subject of employment and government shutdowns.

Just to stir the pot a little- if legislative pay and benefits were halted during a shutdown, and congress was in the social security pool like the rest of us, both of those problems would be fixed very quickly.

And most of the conversation in here hasn't been advocating for the left, Democrats, or Biden but condemning the extreme radicalnessness of the modern right. Jim Jordan, who was himself involved with the attempted overthrow of democracy just got 200 votes from his GQP colleagues in the house speaker vote.
Quite frankly it's ****ing insane that we're even having this conversation. In a same world, Trump and MAGA would have less than 5% support (all people who need to be institutionalized) and it wouldn't be a factor. Yet, he holds majority support in the GQP and the extent of the cult can't be understated.

I attempted to get this thread back towards wrestling talk earlier this week. It appears I was unsuccessful.
Essentially what the internet (I will also inlcude the MSM) has done is enabled people to be easily swayed one way or another, depending on their basic point(s) of view. People listen to a lot of "what if" conversations and those tend to be very negative one way or another. These hypothetical situations evolve into falsely accepted facts and people are swayed. Both sides are guilty of this and to blame one over the other just shows your bias. Money is at the root of all.
What I often find ammusing is the level of "proof" that must be shown. Depending on your point of view, you seem to need a notorized confession or bank statment for guilt to be considered. Otherwise, Morning Joe is the voice of absolutism.
The fact that you don't think both sides are to blame for our problems is you being ridiculously unreasonable. Here is a very recent example - Rashida Tlaib just posted that Israel deliberately targeted a hospital in Gaza and killed hundreds, including children. It is without question false information and has been easily proven so. I have yet to see a retraction from her or being called out for spreading disinformation. Just please stop with this holier than though crap about the left being above the fray.
He claimed in one of his posts that he was 235 with only 7% body fat. That will be an extremely difficult cut and will result in a lot of muscle loss I would imagine.

Trust me, many are hoping his legal problems force him to go away....
Please tell me what "radicalnessness" is across the right, as a whole. What polices are so "radical" that they need two nesses behind them? Mind you there are 49 Republican Senators(which is actually 1 more than Democrats, but 3 dependents caucus with them) and 221 Republicans Representatives.

Ad nauseum is the fact that the MAGA cultists continue to defend Trump.
The objective, indisputable fact is that Trump is the frontrunner of the GQP by an extremely large margin. It is the party of Trump. You continue to try to say "not all of the GQP are like that." Sure, but 90% of them are MAGA trump supporters. The house vote yesterday shows that as does the public statements made by GQP politicians regarding Trump. I had asked you awhile ago to list a single Republican politician who has (and continues to) explicitly condemned Trump, and you couldn't name one.
Even the ones who are supposedly anti trump, still call the indictments witch-hunts and claim the DOJ is weaponized or politicized.
Radicalized is 200 house representatives voting to make Jim Jordan the speaker when he very explicitly tried to over turn the election.
