#1000pages FSU Third Natty (Women’s Soccer 2021 & 2023, and Cheerleading 2023 achieved)

FSU on a solid game ending finish. Bol Bowen, Ewin, Watkins… Skrong!
Not trying to stir the pot, but is this infact going to be Coach Hams final year? Or has this team’s surprising success coupled with the horrible football year and lack of movement in leaving ACC caused him to be in line for a new contract?

I feel like everyone (fans, coaches, players, administrators) last Spring / Summer assumed it to be the case because of the downward slide AND the fact things got so bad with players leaving and who we were getting, it looked like we would have by far the worst team in ACC. The lack of a new contract spoke for itself. Add to that how everything was great with the baseball team back and playing its way into Omaha, a football team we thought destined for maybe the playoffs, and a feeling we would be out of the ACC soon. So it seemed a foregone conclusion that 2025 was the time to invest in a new basketball coach and team after the season was done

But now the Football program stumbled hard, the dream of leaving the ACC seems delayed for many years and FSU basketball is in top 1/3 of ACC standings and 13-5. It also appears Hamilton has not made it clear he is done so add to this you now have a legendary coach you would have to now let go having a decent year, making this even more difficult to do vs if finishing near the bottom of conference and having a losing record.

If they keep winning and given the smoke we are not in great spot financially, he may get a new contract for a few years. I suppose some of this will be based on how much he wants.

Cliff notes, love him or hate him, Coach Ham might be here another 3-5 years if we keep winning.

Good post, nc2.

I hope that he is able to go out on a high point, whether this year or in the future. He brought the program back from the abyss and had a legitimate shot at a Natty ended by Covid.
Still, he will be judged by “what have you done for me lately”. Last year’s NIL heavy squad was a bust and I hope he can lean into his longtime formula of “developer of talent” mixed with a lesser number of transfers.
Watching D. Davis, Bol Bowen, and Nitu today gives me hope that this can be a way forward.

Realistically, a series of one year contracts may be best for all as Ham and the program move forward.

He has enough $, getting tired of the NIL issues may be too exhausting. Every school needs an entire business unit to just manage the contracts and money.

Whenever he leaves, I agree on wanting it to be when he is on top. But I'm just not sure he will ever get that title.

Such a great year. One of my low key favorite all-time FSU games was the opening one against Pittsburgh where the whole world saw his debut.

I thought Ham was about to call it quits in October similar to Tony Bennett but was talked into one last year? For some reason I thought I read that in this thread but maybe it was from someone else I was chatting with.
