11-14-15

Thanks, Chloe. My bad! My dad ordered the tics and was disappointed that we were in row 40 in Kinnick. He probably didn't realize you can select your own seats (I didn't, either, for that matter). Guessing we just got randomly assigned seats because he didn't pick them.

Hopefully we can remedy this. Thanks for the tip -- I should have taken a more active role in ordering for Kinnick, in hindsight.

Thanks, guys. It'll be a great time no matter where we're sitting, but I'm thinking the closer, the better.

I got the email on Monday night alerting me that I could purchase tickets the next day, at noon. We got 4 for our season tickets and an extra 6 for all of the family that we have coming into town for the football game. Going to be a blast!

where is the mat actually going to be? End zone, goal line, 5 yard line?

I'm told the best spot is between the 10 and the 20, so I'm guessing the mat will be in that area.

Thanks! 10 tickets ordered in section 124, row 16

The actual seating chart shows the mat area extending from the south edge of the south end zone out to about the 10 yard line. Section 124 goes from about the 8 to about the 20. It looks to me like sections 123 (west side) and 109 (east side) are more centered on the mat, but 124 will still be great. You'll have a terrific view; you'll be just a little bit above us. I'm not sure if the location on the chart is exactly like it's going to be on 11/14/15, but if they move it at all toward the 50, your view will only be better. You're in good shape no matter what.

I got my email on Tuesday afternoon. Ordered yesterday, plus I bought another one. Let's hope for good weather.

if not, at least we get our tickets in Carver for it...i'm sure there will be some unhappy people that bought that won't get to watch...

It is too bad that they cannot put some sort of temporary bleacher on the field north of the mat.

Anyone know if they have they thought ahead regarding whether this could become an annual thing if it is successful this year? Seemingly requires a home night football game in November. (or wrestling at night in November after a day football game) Maybe we could just move the Iowa City Duals outside in the future. Would at least give that event a reason to exist.

Actually, I think the plan is to have some students seated in bleachers north of the mat, unless that plan has changed. I know the planners were talking about it.

I suspect that any future plans will be related to how successful this event is. Would love to make it an annual thing that got bigger each time. Would be great to fill Kinnick to the point where they had to put the mat at the 50!

Bro came thru today and we got 6 in Section 109. Working on Football now.

Am I correct with believing that as a season ticket holder that if the meet is moved into Carver my tickets and any others I purchased will have seats for the meet???

That's my understanding as well. I guess technically it would be the first 15,400 tickets purchased will be guaranteed to have a seat in Carver, but I can't imagine they will sell that many in the season ticket presale so you should be fine.

I read in the Hawk Talk Daily email over the weekend that they are opening up the presale tomorrow to season ticket holders for football and men's and women's basketball. That seems like a great idea.

GG, how many ticket requests have you received, and how many are you able to fill?

Sorry for the late response - I got me a new heart valve last Tuesday and am just now back in the loop. So far I've received requests for 120+ tickets and can cover those plus about 30 more. This does not include the group of kids coming up from Oklahoma, thanks to some of our favorite Cowboy fan posters.

I anticipate a last minute rush like we had for the Penn State dual a few years ago.

Welcome back Jim! Glad you are recovering well. Stay healthy my friend.

I don't know how many season ticket holders there are for Iowa Wrestling, but yeah, since they get 1st crack with their own seats, then buy up X amount more, I presume the 1st 15,400 sold get to go to Carver if the weather doesn't come thru. I would imagine it will get pretty close to that if not filled prior to the general public offering on Oct. 1.

So to summarize and pretty much agree with brucefan: IF you have a ticket now for Kinnick from a Wrestling season ticket holder, you're in Carver. Might be one of those general admission type deals if you have to go in Carver, whatever is open that isn't spoken for by a season ticket holder. That could get a little complicated unless your ticket for Kinnick gives you an "alternate" seat and location in Carver should it be necessary. It's a potential logistical nightmare for sure, but for me just getting in the door will be fine. Not a bad seat in the house in Carver.

It will be interesting to see if for instance the 1st 15,400 tickets are a certain color, and the rest are a different color, so you know who gets in at both venues should the need arise.

Football season ticket holders can purchase beginning at 8am Wednesday. I received an email today.

GG. Keep us posted on requests. I would be happy to provide 10-20 tickets. Is it better to just donate the money to WFL or buy the tickets and send them to you?

Thank you for your support. Either way is fine. We will send you a statement for your tax records, regardless.

Does anyone know roughly how many tickets have been sold since ticket sales were opened up to non-season-ticket holders?

Sorry -- I wasn't clear in my question. I'm wondering how many were actually sold on the first day that they were available to non-season-ticket holders. Season ticket holders had bought at least a few thousand before tickets were opened up to non-season-ticket holders. Anybody know that number?

I plan on bringing the whole family to the wrestling event but only the son and I are staying for the football game. Does anyone have advice on where the best place to buy football tickets are? I can't find any ticket online for much less than $100 a piece. I don't want to pay that much if I can avoid it and I've not been to enough football games to really know the ins and outs (if there are any). Any help would be appreciated. TIA

I'd try the ticket office, Huck. Pretty sure the Minnesota game isn't sold out yet.

By the way, the football team is doing its part to boost attendance for the Grapple on the Gridiron. Huge road upset out of the way, so they should be in the hunt for the West title by the Minnesota game. The more interest in that game, the more fans around Kinnick, and presumably the more come in for the meet to witness some history in the making.

You can buy online for face value.
