Ben Kueter

This is a #TTH if you ask me, but whatever makes you feel better.

There’s no reason a program of Iowa’s stature can’t pull an assistant coach from Nebraska. None.

Not sure about his “demeanor” but though there have been no titles, there’s been a lot of hardware. His work with Bradley Hill in particular was impressive, I thought.
I have a feeling the HWT will have some help in the room real soon when Mocco signs. :). I can only image that Steve has an open invitation to come in the room and work with his son and others. If not, that's a misstep.

I decided to look into it...
Hwt avg finish last 10 years - 8th (assigning a non AA or NQ a place of 12th)
197 avg finish last 10 years - 8th
184 - 10th (though thats generous, Brooks only AA in 10 years).
We've not been nearly good enough at the upper weights, hopefully the current crop starts to change this.
I think they have already no? If I recall last month correctly, 165, 174, 197, and HWT all AA and a 184 AA was sitting the bench. Throw in #1 Ludington and #3 Mocco along with young GA and Angelo and I would guess things can only get better...

Ben Kueter's two sport dreams at Iowa will be further delayed. Hip surgery will prevent Kueter from competing for Iowa football this fall.

Full details:
Realistically cementing his full attention to wrestling imo. The disconnect from FB is an awfully wide chasm at this point. KF was getting antzy for a decision anyway.

Unfortunate for Ben. Obviously this is a huge blow to his football aspirations, which is devastating for him I’m sure. Also worth mentioning is that it will likely impact his ability to gain lean mass in advance of next wrestling season as well. Really too bad. The silver lining though, is that he was an AA as a freshman, with a hip injury that required surgery!

He looked so stiff attacking the legs this year. This makes a lot of sense. What a warrior.
For sure. I was wondering why he got away from leg attacks and the blast double that he was so good at. Although he still had some The hip may be the answer.

Oh boy - TNT/Iowa grind another promising athlete to dust in March to wrestle under seed at NCAA's.

I kid, I kid, relax

The only problem for wrestling only is that he will need a wrestling scholarship taking one away from someone else. As long as he keeps the FB dream going, wrestling gets a freebie.....

I’m pretty sure he wasn’t on football scholarship this year, that was part of the reason he couldn’t officially join football practices until this summer.

Also, with NIL and upcoming roster/scholarship rules this is pretty very low concern. NIL numbers could easily be adjusted slightly to cover the cost of a scholarship if needed if Iowa doesn’t add scholarships for men’s wrestling.

Brad Hill went from beating Owen Trephan at NCAAs to not qualifying at 197. Bobby Telford is a very good coach.
I am starting to think he might be a pretty good coach and the recruiting was the problem. The numbers are speaking for themselves. I am still not convinced that he can coach up someone's offense up very much though.

not how that works...

Mullin from Vtech quit football his freshman year. Is the heavyweight from Wisconsin still trying to do both??

A true warrior, hopefully the surgery is not complicated and he gets back to it asap.
Someone order Ben a side of grass fed beef and potatoes, eat hard train hard 265lbs by Dec and feeling like the Hulk.
Going to be hard to put on that kind of good weight without being able to do full body lifts like squats, deadlifts, cleans, etc. But he can at least bulk up and strengthen his upper body. Better than nothing.

Depends on the type of hip surgery really, but the training, the facilities and motivation will be there.
I think we see a fully motivated beast in our lineup by next season
