UConn offer is old. Kid peaked as a Sophmore in rankings. Still lots of potential. Just not as sought after.Competing with UConn for a player they have offered from Connecticut. Not optimistic.

Thanks, so there is hope. 6-10 and 200 is awfully skinny, but ability is more important.UConn offer is old. Kid peaked as a Sophmore in rankings. Still lots of potential. Just not as sought after.
It must not be that hard. Igor Demin is getting $1,000,000 from BYU.I believe that they have to have a work visa, which isn’t that easy to get.
IdiotWatch out Missouri Valley teams. Frans coming

There are 9 international players playing in U.S. who are considered first round picks in the next draft.
NIL seems to be killing Iowa BB's recruiting. Fran almost has to pull a rabbit out of his hat, like the Murray's. Is there really much hope for Winters? It seems like he would want a decent NIL payment and Oregon would be his natural choice.Thinking Iowa is probably taking Beckford and Diakite. Then hope on Winters.
Either way portal shopping in spring for PG.
Oregon has 4 or 5 underclassmen at his position on the roster. Iowa’s recent NBA picks /players is our only hope. Oregon’s proximity and of course Nike money is tough to beat. I personally don’t like Iowa’s chances. But there is a chance. He’s a big time hoops fan and wants to be in NBA sooner than later.NIL seems to be killing Iowa BB's recruiting. More likely that he found a girlfriend & he's lost his focus.....Not overly concerned with recruiting in general since the portal , everything can change from year to year, but I am a bit curious about what is the case of Diakite that caused his ranking to drop, what is specific to him that brought this about, should he sign what do we look for in his game to work on, energy, attitude, skill set, weight, motivation. So many things can affect a young man, shoot could be he just had a breakup with girlfriend that caused a focus issue. Based on Fran seeing things others don’t, I’ll figure it’s something Fran thinks he can work out for the kids and teams benefit. Any insight????
Not only is NIL killing recruiting, but I think the perception that Fran is not long for Iowa is also having an effect as well.NIL seems to be killing Iowa BB's recruiting. I know it's true or I wouldn't have called you an idiot. But true
My guess early next week.makes you wonder when that first 2025 commit is gonna happen

The biggest need for him is to put on muscle mass. 30 pds at least. And he’ll be a big time get imo.More likely that he found a girlfriend & he's lost his focus.....
Don’t think Freeman is going anywhere. Really likes Iowa and feels its home. Something would have to change that situation drastically.Another center is a position of need, assuming both of our bench centers leave after this year. It also hedges against Freeman transferring. A PG is the greatest need. I think you always should have at least 3 guards who can play PG. Dix can play point, but he is much more of a 2. He could also play 3 against most teams. A PG in the portal and a combo guard recruit would be great.
Getting the soph class and Dix to return will be even more important than recruiting,
Plus he's dating Taylor McCabe.Don’t think Freeman is going anywhere. Really likes Iowa and feels its home. Something would have to change that situation drastically.
What if Fran leaves, as some are speculating? I agree that I don't see Freeman, Harding, Pryce, Dembele, or Dix leaving. Not so sure about Traore.Don’t think Freeman is going anywhere. Really likes Iowa and feels its home. Something would have to change that situation drastically.
Only if he doesn’t lose any quickness. The last thing he needs is to get stronger and lose quickness. The biggest need for him is to put on muscle mass. 30 pds at least. And he’ll be a big time get imo.
If Traore has a break out year against Big10 level competition, he will be getting some nice offers. I wouldn't say Dix is a lock to say either. He may jump at a chance for a bigger payout in his last year. Not sure what his pro prospects are, probably Europe, Asia or Australia. But if someone needs some 3 & D type player, he could get a nice senior year incentive to leave. Hope not. What if Fran leaves, as some are speculating? Fran stuck with Dix when he had his injury the last year of HS, so I would guess that Josh feels some sense of belonging that others might not have. I doubt that he will turn pro, although he might dip his toe into the NBA camps to see where he stands, if he has a big year. Dix is not a WOW player, he just does everything well, and is always alert and hustling. I could see Dix going pro after a good year. I think he’s probably a better prospect than Sandfort due to his defense and athleticism.Fran stuck with Dix when he had his injury the last year of HS, so I would guess that Josh feels some sense of belonging that others might not have. And Creighton may come after him hard. Not to mention his hometown is probably closer to Lawrence, KS than IC. He'd be an asset to any team contending for NCAA title. And he'd probably get a better pay day. I get the loyalty aspect, which is admirable. Her main task is to keep Freeman happy so he doesn't leave.Plus he's dating Taylor McCabe.
Bet in the next week.Commitment tomorrow?
With the portal, you never know who might transfer out, but Beckford is definitely not a position of need with the current roster. I was hoping Diakite's visit was good enough for him to pull the trigger. Fran needs to find a hidden PG.Bet in the next week.
Think Beckford is already verballed. Just needs to visit to make it official. IMO .
Agree. Hadn't seen tapes, but noted how skinny he is. Maybe if you pair him with Dembele of Freeman, you can let them defend the opponent's more physical player. Given the portal and the higher likelihood of guys not staying 4 years, I certainly wouldn't turn him down, if he wants to come to Iowa.Diakite looks very much like a stretch 4 to me.
Not a lot of back to the basket post action, as his frame is too slight to take the banging and maintain position, although he does have a nice right handed hook inside.
He mostly likes the face up shots or mid-range fade aways - very Kevin Durant like when he's shooting as he is slender and uses his long frame and a fade to get shots off and that's essentially his calling card. Moves well, likely a good offensive rebounder like Looby perhaps as a skinny guy with length who leaks through block outs to get boards. Moves well in transition and when cutting off the ball.
Fran would make good use of him as he can space the floor for a Center while still providing rim protection and length on the defensive side. Didn't see many defensive clips in here but built like he'd be a good shot blocker.
Probably depends whether Grady is a priority recruit for the Ducks. If he gets the vibe that he is not, maybe Iowa has a shot.
