21/166 He GONE

K Johnson… holy crap… another banner day (in my household) he keeps running wild like he has he’s definitely going to be a first round back… the kid is just so talented it’s unreal… hats off to him he’s a stud back wow
Fortunately that kid from Boise is going to get a lot more attention and he's also a junior. I don't see multiple junior running backs getting selected in the first round, so maybe that keeps him on campus.

He was gone after the Minny game. Then he did ok at OSU and great today.

He had a great freshman year and this year, decen last year with some injuries, only so many carries in those legs to after 3 years time to go.

RBs have a young and short shelf life in the NFL. 3-6 seasons. He’s probably a 2-3rd round pick. He will leave and make money, as he should.

Melvin Gordon went 15th and he put up a 4.52 40 time. If Kaleb is a combine stud, maybe he is 1st round. I think it was obvous this is his last year at Iowa. He could go get $1 million in NIL at one of the big NIL universities if he doesn't declare for NFL.

Yes he will likely skip the bowl game and not risk injury.

I don't think the NFL values RB's that much. Not sure, but don't think a RB has been drafted in round 1 for a few years now..

Do they draft RBs 1st rd anymore. He's a stud, agree he's gone though

I was surprised by this so went back and checked. No running backs in the first round in 2024, a couple in 2023. But I take your point.

In the last decade RB’s were not drafted in the first round of the ‘24, ‘22, & ‘14 NFL Drafts. ‘15, ‘17, ‘ 21, & ‘23 had 2 in the first round, 2018 had 3 selected in the first round. ‘16, ‘19, & ‘20 had 1 RB selected in the first round.

He nor anyone should play in bowl games outside of the playoff. They have run their course.

I can't disagree from a financial standpoint, but their are policies out there to take out. If it wasn't for the institutions, these players would never have had the opportunity. I don't like the sitting out bowl games. Just my humble and probably wrong opinion.

Not wrong. And those policies aren’t cheap. Easier now with NIL but who knows how much he makes versus what a 12 game policy costs.

If I remember correctly Leshon outshined him 2nd half of the season last year. Not sure if he was hurt. Glad to see him doing so well. The oline helped.

He’s got a good combo of size and speed. What I really appreciate is he has great vision and finds the cutback lanes/creases in the defense. He also gets the tough yards. The NFL doesn’t value RB’s and most don’t get drafted in the 1st round anymore. If he puts up good combine numbers, wouldn’t be surprised if he got drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round . It would be fun to cheer for a Hawkeye RB in the NFL for once.

He should leave after the bowl game. Generational wealth to be made. Would I love him to come back? Hell yeah!. But he won't
I tend to agree, if he continues performing at this pace, and he has indications it would benefit him. I keep thinking about all the D returning this year, and if some of them missed their “bird-in-hand” after last season.
