It would have been nice to have a TO available while PSU was on their final drive.

Calling a TO to set up a 2 pt conversion to go up 6 instead of was dumb. Plus the second TO in that half I couldn't tell why we called it at all.

Dumb??? Please do not get into coaching

It was dumb that the coaching staff was not ready for the two point conversion. It was dumb that Iowa actually lined up for the PAT and that a TO had to be used to correct it.

What logic could you possibly use to say it wasn't dumb, poor coaching?

No danger of going into coaching. With a minute and a half left in the game I don't see a big benefit in a 6 point lead instead of a 5 point lead. Not worth a time out imo.

It shouldn't require a TO, but a six point lead is a lot better than a five point lead for obvious reasons. If you're not going for two there, then there's no point and even trying the PAT. A five point lead in that instance does nothing.

With only a minute and a half to go, your main concern is forcing psu to score a td to win. The payoff was not worth a timeout.

Iowa converts their conversion, then PSU has to at least make their PAT. About as much worth as using a TO there.

Without boneheaded coaching, we wouldn't even be discussing this. How were they not ready to go for two? Stanley I can see somewhat. But none of the coaches?

It's simple math, that I did within 5 seconds of us getting into the endzone. There is no difference at that point of the game between 4 and 5 points, it only made sense to go for 2 and make it a 6 point game. If I could do that math at the game, in the stands, how does the coaching staff not have a simple chart or know exactly what they are going to do if/when we get a TD?

KF needs to either study end of game score/clock situations or just designate a coach to take over under 5 minutes for all things clock/strategy related. He's proven time and time again that he isn't capable in that regard.

I get why they went for two but none of this should of mattered if Akrum would of went down at the 5 yard line. Do that and Iowa runs down the clock to minimal time for PSU to try and score after Iowa kicks the go ahead field goal. PSU only had one time out left so they couldn't prevent the time from running off the clock.

I sure hope the coaches talk to the players about these situations for future reference. Giving PSU 1:42 was way too much time to run 12 plays and score on the final play of the game. Lots to learn from this loss.

Could it happen.....have seen much crazier things.

Two - field goals wins the game...and a minute and a half is plenty of time to make that happen.

I would of burned 1 on 3rd down on PSU 2nd last drive (FG block drive). I would of saved the other 2 for possible offense.

IN college football the clock stops ALOT under 2 min, but only for a short time. Sometimes team worry so much about stopping the clock around 3-4min, and they don't need to. Let it run itself down and then save your TO's. Also with the 10 second run-off, you need those time-outs in case you false start or some other goofy rule comes into play.

I thought the Coaching staff handled it just fine, the result was a last second TD for the win. Can't complain about that, I mean we were playing the #4 team in the nation and had them on the ropes.

No PSU had two TO left and would have had more than enough time to get into FG range. That is assuming our FG was not missed, blocked etc.
We weren't guaranteed a win anymore by kicking a fg

And if the FG had been blocked, what would you be saying?? PSU had already blocked one so no guarantee that last minute FG would win it. With PSU using their timeouts, there would ahve been time for PSU to get in position for FG try too. Yea, so much you could learn about the game :)
