Beathard is gonna ultimately be the victim, or benefactor, of circumstance.

Is he ready now to be a day 1 starter? Probably not, but the tools are definitely there.

The question is gonna be will he get the chance to run as the guy an organization is all in on. Garappolo seems to be the clear cut #1 in San Francisco, but Beathard is an injury away from playing. We've all seen though that it doesn't necessarily mean that he will be the guy they want going forward, especially if the team struggles.

I feel that Beathard will get his chance, but I don't know that it'll be in San Francisco, unless Garappolo doesn't pan out (which is possible).

Whats interesting is that the 49ers really liked CJ; enough to take him in the 3rd round; I think he did ok when he was a starter, given the 49ers leaky OL

The Eagles (won the Super Bowl with a backup) and Packers (once Rodgers went down they were toast) proved last year that you really need 2 good QBs to have success in the NFL

A YEAR on bench? His body will luv it.CJ plays, when? His time will come.Wait and see.

Ultimately, it will be be CJ's lack of NFL accuracy that will keep him on the bench. The throw was late and back towards the middle of the field.

I don't see Beathard ever being a team's regular starter.
On the plus side, there are far worse things than carving out a career as a back up nfl QB. If he can hang around in regular roster status for 5 to 7 years, that's not a bad chunk of change in addition to regular pension benefits starting at age 55.

Stats so far:
Beathard 37-20-263-0-1 3-23
Wadley 12-40 6-40 kr 1-64
Butler 3-2
McCarron 1-6 kr 3-62 pr 4-12
HKC 2-45
Koehn 3-4 xp
Johnson 8 tackles, ff
Clayborn 1 tackle, 1 sack, ff
Davis 1 tackle
Bazata 1 tackle
Kirksey 1 tackle
Niemann 9 tackles, int 1-26-1
Jewell 7 tackles
Hyde 4 tackles
Mabin 4 tackles
Jackson 2 tackles, int 1-22-1, pr 1-41

The niners gave Garappollo a $137 million contract. The guy getting the big dollars is going to be 1st string. CJB will have an uphill battle to move in front of Garappollo.

But for the first time, he's actually on my favorite team. He better not get cut, he's been great! I think he fits in KC's defense well too. Imagine Hitchens and Niemann being side by side.
Amen. Probably not this year, but could see Ben being a big contributor on specials, and then you never know when you'll get a shot.....:)

Wadley is either injured or getting cut.
Anyone have info if he’s injured?

Was just thinking the same thing. Hope someone picks him up. Just crazy to me he's not getting his shot.
