We have been through this. As a guy who owned a pit bull, that is a great way to get bites, they don't care about breathing when in attack mode.

One attacked my Golden while on a walk. It was going to try to kill him. I kicked him as hard as I could in the ribs and he let go, pretty sure I knocked the wind out of him by the look on his face, possibly broke something. Then I kicked him again in the head hard enough that he did 2 complete rotations with claws skidding on the concrete. When he stopped spinning, he looked back at me and my dog contemplating his next move and I charged him while yelling at him to " get out of here." He decided he'd had enough and took off, thankfully.

I agree with the pet owner comment. Except with pitbulls. If (or when) they snap, it’s often a surprise to the owners.

He was torn bc he had a good relationship with the farmer but law enforcement was pretty adamant that it get put down before it killed someone. Farmer was pissed, said the dog was just "doing his job". Eff that.

Fvcking hate pit bulls. Some lovely people just moved in across the street. Of course they have a pit bull. In addition, they welcomed themselves to the neighborhood by putting a confederate flag in their front, 2nd story window.

With a pit bull in the neighborhood, we won’t allow our son, who has special needs, outside the house on his own. Even though he’s an adult, he would stand zero chance of surviving a pit bull attack.

You are a smart parent. Pit bull dogs have no real social redeeming value. There are plenty of other dog breeds to buy if you want irrational behavior from your “man’s best friend.”!

Honestly, as much as pit bull guy sucks, they'll never be as bad as the guy that brought his pet opossoum to the dog park on his shoulder and yelled at everyone that let their dog go near him.

Probably right, except pit bull guy did show up at my dog park and of course 5 minutes in a fight breaks out involving pit bull guy's dog. Attacked dog suffered a punctured lung and Pit bull guy and dog were chased out by nan off duty animal control officer and the rest of the people at the park. Thankfully Pit-bull guy hasn't been seen since. Felt a little sorry for the pit as it was obvious he was bling for the young tough guy and not properly trained or socialized and his future looked bleak.

Dog parks are death traps. I'd avoid crowded ones.

My Uncle knows a veterinarian who said dog parks were her "bread and butter" because of the dog bites.

Would be real simple to outlaw breeding Pitbulls... Don't have to put down all the current ones, so all the bleeding hearts can keep them.

German shepherds can go the same route as pits imo. I've been bit by 3 dogs in my life, all German Shepherds. My uncle got mauled by one a few years ago knocking on a farmer's door for an appointment and the farmer's shepherd was out. He's lucky to be alive. Lost use of one arm/hand, side of his face had to be reconstructed and hundreds of staples in his head. Looked like a grizzly attack.

Bruno was intimidating. When he saw a mail truck drive by, he would go berserk and would almost do back flips.

One time the pizza delivery guy opened the door to their house and Bruno mauled his arm. 80 stitches. Oy.

As a former Shepard owner they need to be trained and socialized as well. Not a breed for everybody for sure.

I have no data to back this up, but I assume that stray pits **** everything and thats' why all these shelter dogs are always 1/2 or 1/4 pit.

Some good friends lost their 18 month old daughter. She fell on the dog and the dog went apeshit and bit her in the neck. She died shortly after she got to the hospital. That would be it for me.

Yes but even Pit Bulls need to breathe.

I read an article by an animal control guy in California and he said he did the collar trick on dozens of Pit Bulls when they were latched onto other dogs and they always stopped biting because they can't breathe after 5 seconds of having their collars twisted and lifted up.

There is zero good reason that they still exist. Any and every positive trait can be found in dozens and dozens of other breeds.
