40-year-old woman attacked, killed by her own dog

Most loving and gentle dog known to man.

Yes but even Pit Bulls need to breathe.

I read an article by an animal control guy in California and he said he did the collar trick on dozens of Pit Bulls when they were latched onto other dogs and they always stopped biting because they can't breathe after 5 seconds of having their collars twisted and lifted up.
What happens when you finally have to let go? Can't hold them up forever and when those types of dogs are in frenzy mode even getting choked out doesn't automatically turn it off.

Fvcking hate pit bulls. Some lovely people just moved in across the street. Of course they have a pit bull. In addition, they welcomed themselves to the neighborhood by putting a confederate flag in their front, 2nd story window.

With a pit bull in the neighborhood, we won’t allow our son, who has special needs, outside the house on his own. Even though he’s an adult, he would stand zero chance of surviving a pit bull attack.
People who fly Confederate flags should be deported to North Korea.

They'll get dazed usually and the human can run.

The animal control guy said lifting their collar for too long can kill them also, which may be a good solution if they're in Pit Bull frenzy mode.

Had this happen about 4-5 years ago on a trail down in CR. I was walking and a VERY old lady was walking a full grown rot. The lady was probably all of 5'1 at the most. She was old and little. I walked by and said good morning, and the dog seemed well behaved. Right after I said good morning, someone rode by on a bike and the dog AGGRESSIVELY barked and growled and lunged a bit at the man on the bike. I was probably 5-10 feet away but turned around because it startled me a bit. And I'll never forget this part, right after that the lady looked at me and goes "Hehe, he doesn't like bikes!" and smiled and turned away.

I just sat there wondering what the **** a little old lady is doing bringing her rot that hates bikes down on a trail with heavy cyclist traffic. She was just setting herself, the dog, and an unlucky cyclist up for a really bad situation at some point.
Pretty much the same exact situation with me except the little lady with the big rot told me hers doesn't like runners when I passed by them with the dog barking and lunging.

Jesus what trailer park do you live in?

Some might want to keep an eye out for this guy today. He’d probably chew someone up as well. I thought police dogs were supposed to be well trained, why would it run away.

I don't. How many of these stories are well balanced clean cut families who undoubtedly cared for the dog properly and raised it right? The answer is close to 0.
That said, I don't think it should be legal to own or breed pits bc they'll continue to be used and abused by shitty humans as long as it's allowed to own them.

I disagree on the nature/nurture argument simply because animal husbandry was figured like 15,000 years ago, and we know that instincts - primordial learning - can be bred.

If somebody throws a ball and retriever takes off for it, I don’t blame the dog owner for a deliberately bred trait being expressed by the dog. It's an animal.

German shepherds can go the same route as pits imo. I've been bit by 3 dogs in my life, all German Shepherds. My uncle got mauled by one a few years ago knocking on a farmer's door for an appointment and the farmer's shepherd was out. He's lucky to be alive. Lost use of one arm/hand, side of his face had to be reconstructed and hundreds of staples in his head. Looked like a grizzly attack.

It got a GS owner upset in another thread when I mentioned that they're near the top of the chart for being unpredictable and bitey.

I remembered a story my brother told me a decade ago.

He went to the University of South Carolina and the town was pretty ghetto. There were Pit Bulls all over the place.

He said his friend knew a Sheriff and he said more than once a crackhead broke into someone's house during the day when the family was at work and ran into the family Pitbull who promptly killed him.

The family came home at night and the crackhead was mauled with a gallon of blood on the floor.
