Just realized something pretty interesting. With Iowa being a developmental program there are usually a lot of 5th year seniors on the great teams. This year’s team has one starter from the ‘17 class, Hankins, and IKM as spot back. That’s it.
The ‘11 class were 5th year guys on the 15 team:
Canzeri
Cooper
Lomax
Walsh
Blythe
Fisher
Spears
Duzey
Hank
All major contributors in 15.
The ‘17 class was either misses or too good to redshirt/left early .or retired. (Eppy, wirfs, b smith, Ihmir, geno, Colbert, kallenberg, daviyon)
I think for a Program that relies heavily on development this is a pretty glaring stat that is a problem for this year’s team.
